pronounce Pavlova as Pav-a-lova. Really winds me up. How dare they?

Brummies don't say Kipper tie when saying cup of tea, it is extremely exaggerated, maybe black country. Fed up with actors ripping the piss out of our accent, they never get it right! Angry

Anyway, what about cripps for crisps and arks instead of ask? They are pretty grating.

Rotfl to the Kipper Tie! That's my Dad all over.

And I have to confess to saying "tung" when I mean tongue. It drives DH nuts.

But he doesn't know where to put his apostrophes so I'm not losing any sleep! :)

I do infact say, "lorry" (to rhyme with curry and not like lolly) my dh always says, "sorry a what?"

I know this is late but just noticed the Brummie comments.

The thing is there are about 5 different accents in the area (Birmingham, Dudley, Wolverhamptom, West Brom and I can't remember the rest, my head hurts) within those you have different accents, for example in the areas that are mainly Asian there is an Asian-Brummie accent. If you're not from around here you might be able to say it's a West Midlands accent but you wouldn't know which West Midlands accent. If you've heard lots of different West Midlands accents without knowing specifically what they were you might build up an idea of what it sounds like and generally people think West Midlanders are Brummie.

The Brummie accent itself actually sounds nice, it's the bad "West Midlands" fake accents that sound bad with all the stereotypes from all the accents mixed in together.
