Fucking had enough, feel very angry and stressed. Nine months in and still waking at night. I got in about one am from a baby sitting job and just trying to switch off in bed. Baby wakesAGAIN . He was wriggling at midnight with daddy too with dirty nappy and half a bottle. I just want some sleep. One fucking night. I cant do this! Oh sleeps in front room we bought a foam mattress for the floor cut I just cannot sleep on it its murder. Im out til late too tomorrow night baby sitting again. Just want to swear and scream now . Really fed up.

Got to go back to work soon. Dont know why this little bubba wakes up through the night, he eats plenty and has plenty milk in the day. Scream scream scream. Me that is.

Have you been to the doctors or mentioned it to your health visitor?

kingazanzi · 15/01/2011 02:24

Sorry you're going through this. What about home start? I learnt about it on here. Hope somebody comes in and explains it more. Good luck

Its the hardest thing about having a baby. DD didn't sleep through till 2.5, so trust me I share your pain. I was back at work full time from the time she was 4 months, so horribly hard.

Is baby in his/her own room? In the end, that was what did it with DD. And she's 3.1 now, and we still have the ocasional midnight wakes.

piprabbit · 15/01/2011 04:28

My DS didn't sleep through for the best part of 2 years (left me with very weird sleeping patterns as you can see from time of posting).
What helped me get through was to make a plan that would help me get my one night of sleep (basically a night alone in a cheap local hotel, and then another night a few months later at my mum's house).

Just knowing that I had a plan in place, that I could follow through if/when needed made me feel less desperate and out-of-control. And then I could cope with the sleeplessness better for a while as well.

But it is shit, and I truly hope things improve for you all soon.

onmyfeet · 15/01/2011 05:28

Oh, I feel for you! No advice really, but hope you get some sleep and your back feels better. (did you mean the foam mattress kills your back? Can you add another layer of something soft?)

MsKLo · 15/01/2011 06:54

Both my two were/are the same and with some babies they just need to find their own way and we can forget it is completely normal for a baby

I really do understand your frustration but you need to try and just deal with it as best you can and get as much sleep as you can when you can! How old is baby? My eldest has just recently started being better with sleep at the age of 3 (!) and my toddler still wakes so I do understand that feeling of 'aghhh, I feel deranged!'

I wish I had answers but all I can say is work around baby and get as much sleep as you can and if you can, plan your work in a way that allows you to di this

whatanumpty · 15/01/2011 07:00

What about an inflatable mattress? I've slept on some really comfy ones. Sorry you feel this way, I can really sympathise. It is brutal.

LadyOfTheManor · 15/01/2011 07:54

While my little one has slept through from being very young, we've had to odd night where he's woken up during teething and that has been hard enough, so I sympathise that it's a regular occurrence for you.

If my ds has woken (11 months old) in the night, I make sure I go to bed early the next night for two reasons;

a) to catch up
b) in case he will repeat last night's antics.

Any chance you could not babysit until the early hours and get your head down?

How is his put down routine? Bath, jammies, milk, cuddle, bed (all in his room)? If you repeat that solidly for a few weeks and team it with the beginning steps of CC he should settle. Babies love routine, we, as humans, are creatures of habit...don't let you lo take you for a ride! Put your foot down and take control on the situation before you wear yourself down.
