To put my kids to bed early...

..so I can finally take some decent painkillers?

I've put my back out and am having real trouble moving. I have two DDs (2.11 and 1.5) who, bless them, have bugger all sympathy for their poor mummy (not that I expect any!). They have been good, just their normal boisterous selves all day. Unfortunately even the little things, like changing DD2's nappy and making their dinner are really painful.

I've been given some decent pain relief (tramadol and diazepam), but both of them make me incredibly fuzzy headed, and so I haven't taken any today at all (just been taking ibuprofen instead) as I don't want to doze off while I'm on my own with the kids. Would it be U to put them to bed a little early (7pm instead of 7.30-8pm) so I can finally get some relief?

DP should be home at around 8.30pm, so part of me thinks I should just wait until then. But it bloody hurts Sad

Put them to bed. No point in suffering, especially if there's a chance of making you worse.

One night, or even a couple of early nights won't hurt them.

Feel better soon.

So you know for next time you can safely take 2 paracetomol and 2 ibuprofen at the same. I find Neurofen is the best pain killer.

Sorry your back is bad, put them to bed early so you can get some relief.

If you think they'll sleep then why not?

skydance · 14/01/2011 18:37

Definately put them to bed, I've done it before when I'm poorly.

Get them ready now and take them up, will DH be around in the morning if they get up early?

Bluesheep - I've been there, and have every sympathy with the back thing. It's awful to keep on going through the pain. My two were a similar age when I did mine....

Put them to bed, if you haven't already.

As long as you are basically compus mentis ie. not in a coma and can function when the tablets kick in, get them down your neck as fast as you possibly can. And then when DH is in, if the DC need anything either tonight or in the morning, then hopefully he knows he is officially on duty!

Well done for getting through the day. You poor thing.

Gosh no - get them in bed early.

I don't even have your reasons and my 2 are currently in the bath ( in case any one wonders I am sat in the bathroom on my ITouch thingy not downstairs on the laptop). Then they will be in bed at 7pm.

As my DP is out tonight I will then eat chocolate biscuits in bed reading a new book and I cannot wait.

Thanks, yes DP will be off tomorrow so I can have a day resting (well, that's the plan anyway).

Both the girls are good at going to bed, although sods law says they'll probably create at being in bed early. I think they'll just have to lump it for one night though.

Thanks for your replies.
