Kudos Auntie for saying sorry. That takes a big person. (Once i offended people- again a vodka fuelled one and I just deregistered and namechanged, as I was mortified in the morning. Blush )

i thought the same when I watched it, but as cupcakes said......

I HATED hearing the other women screaming it scared and haunted me, so thank fuck she was not there when I had mine!

in fact I remeber nervously arriving with DS2 in the ward, and yup, heard the screaming. they need to soundproof

I styed quiet, and so the midwives didn't beleive I was in full labour (I go into myself when very very scared) and so my baby could have died. So, my device is to scream and complain and winge and moan, make as much of a fuss and make sure people are in no doubt that you are distressed. Notes from when I was 99% certain that I and DD1 would die due to the amount of pain from a back to back breach prem labour on the little gas and air they allowed me and paracetomol that I immeditely threw up, say that "mum is coping well, a little uncomfortable. All straightforward".

I certainly did throughout my two c sections that were needed because of what the midwives let happen that first labour! C sections are not a fun experience, and I certainly wasn't breathing calmly Hmm

Speaking of which, I really must master those flashbacks enough to make a complaint, given that the child is nearly four.

Thw thing is, when you are in your own environment, you should be able to do/say/scream whatever you want. That's why it's not the same being on a hospital ward where you are constrained. The whole experience of childbirth in a hospital setting needs looking at - it should be for the benefit of women giving birth and what they want and need.

As I said before - whatever gets you through it girls, but I'd like to say I was in awe of them before, as they do a great job, but my admiration of midwives and maternity nurses grew a hundred-fold last night. Never seen/heard quite so much screaming during labour either on TV or in real life as I did last night. If you only have a mum once every couple of weeks in enough distress to make so much noise as the poor lady did last night, it would be too much for me. Hats off to the midwives and nurses who stay patient and caring despite having someone screaming at a hundred decibels 6 inches from your face on a regular basis...
