To send DH and DS to Disneyland Paris?

I've looked on line, and realised we can't afford for all 5 of us to go..so have suggested to DH that he and DS1 go on the Eurostar and stay for one night.

DH thinks this would be grossly unfair on the two yonder DC. I think younger DC can all have their turn in future years of the same trip. DH says how do we explain to a 5 yo and a 7yo their older brother has has gone to Disneyland with Dad....I say we just say they have gone to France for two days to learn a bit of French.....

No, you have to pass the pain threshold to be allowed to drink the case of wine you bought at duty free.

If I had to do it then damn it I dont see why anyone else should get away with it!

If you do stay off park and drive, take a day and go to Parc Asterix, it whups disneys ass in no small way!

Would it be cheaper if you drive over?

We've been to Disney 4 times and always drive (from Edinburgh).

There's no way on earth I'd go and not take all the children (well there is but that only because my oldest 2 girls are 26 and 27)

I've taken my son 3 times (he's now 17) and youngest daughter (9) on all 4 trips plus 3 of my grandchildren so far (only another 3 to go when they are old enough).

I'm going for 2 nights next month with the sun cheap holiday thing - it's vost about £240 for 2 adults and 2 children, including one day tickets, accommodation and ferry crossing. They'll probably do another one next year, why not wait and do that?

YABVU!
What happens in a few yrs when you can afford to bring your younger DCs? Do you leave the oldest behind with someone as he's already been?
We went to Florida this summer with DCs (3,4,6) and their faces were priceless. It was a family holiday and experience that we love reminising about

AuntiePickleBottom · 06/01/2011 22:53

or maybe do a camping hoilday in paris and then just get park tickets.

mumeeee · 06/01/2011 23:02

YABU.Your DH is right it would be unfair on your 5 and 7 year old.We took our DDs to Disneyland Paris when theu were 5, 7 and 10, Theu all loved it, Actually the 7 year old got the most our t of it and she was very excited abouit it for a long time after we had come home.

charliesmommy · 06/01/2011 23:07

If you cant afford for all to go, then none should go. You are a family. And a trip to Disney is a family event.

LynetteScavo · 07/01/2011 18:31

Well, I discussed it with the DC today...interestingly DS1 totally not bothered, DS2 thought it was fair for the DC, he said he would rather DS1 went first than none of them went at all, but thought it was unfair for the parents as one parent would probably go twice, and one parent once. DD said she wanted to go today, right now, and couldn't possibly wait. DH has said he doesn't want to go at all.

I'm thinking I could do central Paris with DC without DH, and then pop to Disney, which is what I've always done previously. Like hell will I ever stay for 3 days. Grin

To be totally honest you sound a lot more concerned about what makes you happy OP.

I too cant believe you think its ok to send one and not the other 2 - fair enough if they were like 9 ,3 and 1 but 7 and 5?! i think your dc are probably being lovely children saying its ok for ds1 to go but maybe get that sinking feeling inside that i did whenever my dad took my sister out for the day without us Hmm you also say you will take the others in the future?? and whats to say you will be able to afford it - before we had dd we took ds on holiday abroad twice and said we would take our next child (dd) when she was the same ages and havnt yet been able to afford it - thankfully she wasnt actually born so cant be sad we left her behind!! Please op dont send one without the others!!

OK, so having had a discussion with DH you will be pleased to hear NONE of us are going to Disney or will be going in the foreseeable.

They all have to go and so do their parents. We got a brilliant deal at the end of a 1/2 term when there was an inset day on the Monday. Drove from London to Paris on Day 1 and did the bit with all the shops and cafes during the evening - later than expected because the DC (then 6 and 9ish) loved the hotel and the pool (a short bus ride away). Next day whole day at Disney and it was fantastic not mine or DH's thing and tbh we were dreading it but thought it had to be done.

Night two - more swimming, dinner and bed - they fell asleep in their plates and DH had to carry DD to bed.

Third day did the filmy bit and popped in for one last ride. Bunged them in the car at 3ish and drove back to London.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC - ONE OF OUR BEST EVER BREAKS.

didldidi · 07/01/2011 19:46

Well I guess you'll be pleased hey?
