To find DH kissing his family members on the lips strange?

Ok before I get flamed, I know it is not meant in a strange way and my DH finds the fact that I don't kiss my parents on the lips or hug them just as if not more strange...I am genuinly interested in the differences and what is considered 'normal'

I don't do that, but horse for courses etc.

In my family though we have Italians, French, Belgian, Taiwanese and more, and it can very confusing when greeting people. Is it one cheek kiss, is it two, is it three (bloody belgians!)? I can never remember which side to start with and often end up banging heads or kissing glasses. Lips would be bloody easier but ewww!

my parents werent kissy or huggy people either.. nor were my grandparents.. so it never bothered me too much

husband isnt a very tactile person either unless he is trying to annoy me, and I am pretty much the same... but his mum always gives us both a hug and a kiss on the cheek when we arrive and leave..

I dont like people being too much in my personal space.

Neither DH's family or mine are very keen on public displays of affection, so we are quite smoochy with DS and each other. Years of therapy, I know.

Kiss who you want and duck to avoid anyone else, I say.

Or wave mistletoe alluringly at them.Grin

My dad always kisses me on the lips and I hate it. It makes my skin crawl but I don't want to offend him so I tolerate it.

For all other family members we hug and kiss on the cheek.

That being said I have kissed toddler and baby family members on the lips with a big exagerated kiss but I wouldn't do it when they were older.

Ugh... Each to their own of course but I find this quite... Disgusting (sorry)
I kiss my DH and my dc's because they are small but once they are a bit older I won't - I just would not feel right!

My family has always kissed on the lips. It's very chaste, no tongues or exchange of bodily fluids Wink. My DH's family always do cheeks, which is fine too. My DS2 has ASD and never kisses anyone - has never kissed me :(
