To be insanely annoyed with the Pampers Village Magazine

Yes I know that disposable nappies are an eco-nightmare but at least they serve a useful purpose. However if anyone can tell me a bigger waste of trees than the bloody Pampers magazine I want to know about it.
Free coupon: yes please.
Tedious, humourless, patronising advice that makes those NHS maternity pamphlets seems positively sparkling: no thanks.
Another one just plopped onto my doormat today and contained my favourite-ever gem. Seriously, word for word:
"If you have even less energy [to cook] these options also work. Pick up a roasted chicken at the supermarket and pair it with a simple salad. Many come prewashed and in bags. Add dressing and serve."
Oh. My. God. I had a baby not a lobotomy.

Perhaps they should run a competition and we could submit cooking tips along those lines?

Here's mine:
If you have too little energy to turn the grill on, a non-toasted cheese sandwich also works. It can be called a cheese sandwich.

Serving suggestion: put it on a plate.

Half wits - you'd have to get dressed to go to the supermarket and get a hot chicken Grin

Ooh sounds delicious and so simple, BeachHoliday.
I would love to add
"If you have no energy to cook, order a takeaway" BUT THAT IS ACTUALLY THEIR OTHER "OPTION"
Not convinced yet? Those Pampers Village Idiots have more to tempt you, fear not.
I quote:
"Deliverymen are a favourite of new parents! No cooking and, even better, no washing up."
Really? I was planning to take my little silver trays back to A Taste Of Raj for a quick rinse in Fairy in between breastfeeds.

onadietcokebreak · 05/01/2011 21:47

Just read out to DP because I couldn't stop laughing!

Can't believe I used to enjoy reading them- thank god I discovered mumsnet!

StealthPolarBear · 05/01/2011 21:47

I'm vegetarian so don't know these things but if you buy a deli chicken would you not have to carve it and get rid of all the skin & carcass etc? Would that not be a huge faff?

porcamiseria · 05/01/2011 22:28

how the fuck do they get our adresses I ask you

that said I like the freeby you get after birth, saved me about a tenner on laundry detergents!

pecanpie · 06/01/2011 09:08

Probably from the Bounty pack - if you give your details to Bounty (the only way to get their freebies which aren't worth selling your details for) it gets shared with the advertisers in the pack.
