To be worrying that the world will end in 2012?

I've always had anxiety about stuff like asteroids, world war etc and whenever any rumours start about the end of the world I get all nervous and scared. I was ok with this 2012 thing though, told myself not to be silly, it was just another "end of world prophecy" but then DP mentioned it again the other night, alongside the increased earthquakes in Britain, flooding in Australia, America, Middle East, then all those birds that just dropped dead from the sky and I'm terrified, what if it IS going to happen in 2012 and all the wierd stuff going on recently is the start of it???

Tell me I'm being unreasonable. Please.

RawDEal, it's definitely worth mentioning this to your GP. I posted a thread a few months ago as I also lie awake crying at night with fright about things that won't happen - zombies mainly in my case. People on here advised me to tell the GP. I did and the GP was really helpful about it and I've been referred for CBT, which I started a few weeks ago. To be honest, I've found it's gotten better even after one session, which I think was largely due to the emotional relief of unloading all my fears with a professional, and being reassured that I was far from being the only person to have these kinds of issues.

A huge thing for me was to accept that it is not normal or necessary to be so scared. Also, what started as nighttime fear began to affect the daytime too. Please speak to someone, they can really help.
