A little background:

In Sep I had a colposcopy to remove CIN3 cells from my cervix. All was fine, the biopsy came back and showed no cancer which was more than a relief.

Since then, I have bled non stop. Not loads, just enough for me to have to wear sanitary towels. Sex was painful, so I thought it best to go back in to the GP.

I was referred to the gyn unit at the hospital and it turns out I have to have a CT scan. Although she said that everything looked fine, she wants to be on the safe side.

I was in and out and didn't get to ask the consultant what she meant by 'to be on the safe side', safe side of what? I've tried to call over Christmas and NY but I haven't been able to contact her.

I don't feel well, my stomach is hard, I have back and leg pain and everything I eat just comes out again and I'm convinced I have something really wrong with me.

Please, please tell me it's OK? I've no-one to talk to apart from my DH, and I think he's had enough of my whining.

If there looked to be anything wrong, the consultant would not have let Christmas and New Year deter her from contacting you. You'd have heard.

But I do know how agonising it can be waiting for medical results. I hope you can get in touch with the consultant soon, and be reassured.

Sorry you're have having a bad time. I'm not a gp so cannot advise. Maybe you'll be able to contact her tomorrow? I guess the reference to being on the safe side is to cover their own back in case a patience has an illness they have not checked for.

If the specialist is not overly concerned then I would try to relax but if you're really concerned, contact your gp or hospital in question, tell them your symptoms and worries and maybe they can hurry things up and see you again.
Good luck!

Thank you.

I've just read my post back and I sound like a nutcase!

I'm just so fed up of this whole thing. I'm off to bed now, I'll try the consultant again in the morning.

You'll be fine, I'm sure. I was convinced I had some dreadful illness in March when I saturated twelve STs in 7 hours (some of you may remember my slightly hysterical thread Blush) I had other symptoms too. Turns out I had gastric flu but I'd only had the tummy ache part of it, but it managed to play havoc with my cycle. I would bet it's coincidence tha you have an illness not long after your scare which is making you extra paranoid. I'm sure you're OK :)

Hi Sofa. I know where you're coming from. It's terrifying finding out you have CIN3. I had it last year and had a loop thingy, my last smear was clear, however a while after my treatment I bled really really bad. I went to my gp, they did some tests and was told I had bacterial vaginitis. I had a short course of anti-biotics and it was gone straight away. I'm not saying that's what you have but it's likely to be nothing too bad. Good luck with your follow up.

If it was labelled "red danger" you would've been seen over Christmas. As it is you've been asked for an appointment so it probably it just to double check they haven't missed anything, and if they were more than 50% sure they had they wouldn't be making you wait it out. Don't worry!
