My DD's (9 and 3)both got moondough playsets from a old friend of mine. Very kind and generous gift.
But FFS the stuff is horrid, it flakes and goes everywhere, I have already had to clean the kitchen floor once.
AIBU to hide it ?

no yanbu - my ds has had some and we have hidden it too!!!

mutznutz · 01/01/2011 14:43

Nah, but you would be unreasonable if you hid it forever. There's a time and a place for getting the messy stuff out...New Year's Day probably isn't it LOL

PhishFoodAddiction · 01/01/2011 14:47

YANBU.

I actually requested moondough for one of the children's presents...and I wish I hadn't!

Sounded amazing, the dough that never dries out...

It's not really 'dough' though is it?! It actually makes me cringe, don't like the feel of it on my hands. And it crumbles into teeny bits that stick to everything.

I may let them get it back out when DH is here to supervise. Grin

Tiredmumno1 · 01/01/2011 15:04

I cant stand the moon dough, i wish we hadnt bothered at all.

Although i think the moonsand is fab

SmokinSanta · 01/01/2011 15:26

DS1 got some 2 Christmases ago.

It lasted 12 minutes out of the packaging before it went in the bin.

Everyone has been banned from buying it since.

SmokinSanta · 01/01/2011 15:27

aah, sorry we had moonsand. not sure of difference, but both are banned!

Pocketsocks · 01/01/2011 15:46

Ours is atop the fridge until further notice, YANBU

Spinkle · 01/01/2011 15:58

we intercepted the moonsand from Granny too.

Terrible stuff.

YANBU

Shhhh · 01/01/2011 16:04

moonsand and moondough is banned in our home...

Both can be used in the summer in the garden BUT noway does it come into the home.

I hate the stuff and think its a nightmare. Both dd(5) and ds(3) love it.. I sadly find it makes to much mess.Sad.

Any parent that buys its for dd or ds also get the kind gesture ruturned at their lo's birthday Wink

YANBU

Shhhh · 01/01/2011 16:05

SMOKINSANTA, moondough is meant to be like playdough but its not... Just a bit more doughy than the moonsand BUT doesn't seem to be as it appears on its packaging..Hmm Still awful stuff.

siilk · 01/01/2011 18:34

I loathe the stuff. Of course, DS loves it! It is currently hidden as parents are still here; however, will reappear in the playroom (only room in the house it is allowed in) in a couple of weeks.

mommmmyof2 · 01/01/2011 18:47

We bought it for my dd and we played it once since christmas day the whole time me standing over her with a dust pan and brush Grin
I was only thinking today that i should actually get it back down from the very high shelf at the back of the very dark cupboard for them tonplay with again. Maybe later Wink

GoodnightNobody · 01/01/2011 18:49

I hid ours in the bin, along with the sodding bath crayons.

oldraver · 01/01/2011 18:50

DS asked for Moondough, along with the rest of the Argos book. I ripped those pages out

fruitful · 01/01/2011 19:21

Ds2 played with it once, and has since only asked for the playdough. Phew.

Its horrid isn't it? And it sounds so good in the adverts ...

Onetoomanycornettos · 01/01/2011 19:23

Moondough is related to the evil Moonsand so YANBU!

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 01/01/2011 19:31

Oh I like it! DD got some for Christmas as it was all that she asked for - she was like a walking advert for it, "I'd like some moondough, it never dries out!" Grin

I like the fact that it's not as sticky as playdough and if it falls on the floor it just sweeps or vacuums up rather than making a sticky, smeared mess on the tiles.

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 01/01/2011 19:33

The texture of it is weird though! It reminds me of those banana sweets but you can mould it.

Lilyloo · 01/01/2011 19:37

Agree it is messy but it does hoover /sweep up better than play dough etc

saffy85 · 01/01/2011 20:00

YANBU I got DD some instead of playdoh as it said it never dries out on the packet. no idea if that promise is real as it had binned by boxing day. DD hated it, it was way messier than I thought it would be and incredibly overpriced. And now she wants new playdoh instead Hmm

outnumbered2to1 · 01/01/2011 23:43

DS1 got moonsand as a birthday present a few years ago. It is currently hiding in the loft. He asked for Moondough from Santa and i had to tell him Santa didn't stock it!!!!

Bloodymary · 02/01/2011 08:40

DD was asking about it recently (as somebody said, it looks so good on the adverts). Thank god I didnt get it.
And I never will now. Thanks all!

gorionine · 02/01/2011 08:50

I had never hear of it. Just googled it and judging by the adda i would DEFINITELY have bought it fot thr DCs had they requested them! Thanks for the review as I know know better!

31Mum · 10/04/2011 06:57

O how I wish I had read these reviews before I let my DC's talk me into buying this in a 3for2 offer yesterday. I have just opened the box and was SO horrified by it I had to log on immediately to see what others thought of it. It must be a compelling advert though because my 3 1/2 year old has NEVER requested anything from an advert before. It is beyond words it is so horrendous.....must dash to make plans to 'lose' it somehwere.

saffy85 · 10/04/2011 07:16

YANBU. We accidently on purpose lost my DD's moondough on boxing day in a big clear up blitz. Oops... Wink
