It's me too! Every New Year I make a resolution about depilation, manicure and pedicure - never quite managed it. The emergency run-around usually involves shifting 6 months worth of books from his side of the bed!

BlueCollie · 31/12/2010 22:55

I was lucky as I dropped my son off at my mums and had about 5 hours to clean the house and spruce myself up before picking him up from Brize. Shame I didn't hear the petrol cap key fall off and so by the time I arrived at Brize there was no petrol in the car and a locked cap...spent an hour at the garage just outside of Brize waiting for the AA.....luckily he was too pleased to see me to be pissed off Smile

Last time he was quite insulted that when he went to bed one of the cats was already there on his side of the bed fast asleep.......

penguin73 · 31/12/2010 22:59

The only time I have arranged to collect him from Brize they wouldn't let me on base as his name wasn't on the passenger mandate. So he ended up trudging up to the MGR to try and find me (had no mobile so couldn't even get a message to him to let him know what was happening) and the first words of our romantic reunion were 'can you tell this **eejit that you are on the plane?!'
Since then he's always managed to fly back on days when I've been working!

onimolap · 31/12/2010 23:26

DH never wanted me to go and meet him!

There was a big difference in his arrivals at home when you compare before and after children.

There was also a big difference between his usual pattern of stopping off at the base to dump kit and shower etc, and how he smelt the time the time he came straight home....

DH wants picking up in April just to avoid the journey from hell on public transport with all his kit but not for R&R which I'm quite disappointed about, such a good excuse for a night in a nice hotel. Still it gives me an extra few hours...(note to self, finish all choc tonight and start diet/exercise regime tomorrow)

onimolap · 31/12/2010 23:45

That April rotation makes me feel old. Going out will be the first son of DH's coterie to deploy. I'm used to DH and those of his mates still in deploying (it's part of the deal IYSWIM), but the very idea of the children starting to go is something else.

Sorry, didn't mean to get all serious. Perhaps we need to get back to where to land those F16s!
