Am i dizzy brunette?

If i am out with the dcs it is hard enough keeping an eye on them. I cant on top of that watching other people's dcs, if they wear enough layers, if they drink in bottles or cups..
If i'm out without the dcs i enjoy it with i-phone on or thinking/planning/calculating.
If i'm in the shops i'm busy looking for bargains not for 'wrong parenting styles'.

I'm reading some threads here and i'm so impressed of the multi-tasking others do when they are out. It is the attention to the detail that impreses me i.e.'i saw a mother giving her dd coca cola in the bottle. It was about 113.5 ml'. How do people manage to notice everything?

Reminds me crimewatch. When they interview neighboors and some of them say 'i was coming from the shops last monday and i noticed a red Ford at the corner ...and i saw a woman around 32 crossing the road wearing a blue coat and brown blouse...'.

My head is so full of trying to remember PINS and passwords and to buy milk, you can pass naked next to me and i'll not notice.

Is it because i live in London? Or am dizzy?

Are any others like this?

I notice nothing; but, like most OPs on AIBU people I am very good at bullshitting and making stuff up.

ChippingIn · 30/12/2010 14:00

Laquitar - I'd make a hopeless witness too -'What model car did you see on fire? - 'Car? What car?'...

... on the other hand I do notice people doing things that I would never do - kids with dummies in walking around the shops, you know, the ones who look almost old enough to be in college, pregnant women smoking, babies in a babygrow when the parents are all togged up for the cold weather.... you know - all the JUDGEY stuff Grin - but I also notice 'nice' stuff - children being sweet, looking cute, babies you just want to pick up and cuddle. So I think I 'see' babies/children - but not other stuff!?

Agree with ChippingIn but I did notice the little brat girl who scooted right into my legs in the supermarket car park the other day and thought good job I was there to stop her rolling into the car that was coming because the idiot mother was too busy yakking to notice what her own child was doing.

usualsuspect · 30/12/2010 15:35

I was trying to be observant while out and about today ...I saw a child eating a cone of chips in his buggy ..2 kids about 8 or 9 years old playing footie in the park without a parent in sight and a little boy wearing a coat, hat gloves ,shorts and wellies all of which would have outraged some mnetters Grin

webwiz · 30/12/2010 15:38

I am effortlessly observant to the point where DH and the DCs think I should actually think about becoming a spy.

BiscuitNibbler · 30/12/2010 15:40

I once got to work and everyone came up to me asking how much damage there was, what had I seen etc.

Me: "I didn't see anything, what are you talking about?"

Everyone else: "Nothing?? Don't you walk to work through the town square??"

Me: "Yes"

Everyone else: "But what about the bomb?"

Me: "Bomb? I didn't see anything"

That afternoon walking home for lunch I decide to look closely to see if I can see what everyone was going on about. As I turned into the town square I see smashed out windows, rubble, general chaos. I now understood the odd looks.

I dread being at the scene of a crime, because I would be worse than useless.

no one in my family seems to be observant
It's a year to the day since my dad died and not one of them has mentioned it.

hmc · 30/12/2010 23:46

I once witnessed a robbery. I saw a horrible man steal a handbag from an old neighbour's carSad

I had to go the police station, and look at photos. I was so awful. I knew the thief was man between 25 and 55 but that was it! I couldn't remember a thing about him. The policeman ended up laughing at me!
