to think that the least understandable part of the Ronnie/Kat storyline is that

Kat's newborn baby would be left alone long enough for Ronnie to swap him?

I can actually see that given her history Ronnie may well be unstable enough to carry out her actions but I find it completely unbelievable that Eastender's characters are always leaving their babies on their own from the moment they are born.

Hmm its a tv programme, I suppose its the same reason no-one on eastenders have a washing machine, always over the laundrette, having dot taking care of their smalls

Dont think it would be to healthy for a young baby stuck in a recording set everyday, allday

i don't get how no one will notice the difference. even new babies look very different from each other. different sizes, colouring, sound, smell. such bollocks

Not to mention the fact that Ronnie's (deceased) baby apparently has a club foot and Kat's doesn't. The HV notices the lack of club foot but doesn't say anything... Hmm

That's inconsistency number 646532 in this storyline btw.

oh I know it is only the telly and I haven't even watched it yet but I can't bear them doing that to Ronnie. She's lost one child already. And then had m/cs. Horrible of them, even by 'Enders standards.

The whole thing is ridiculous. How old would the babies be at that point? You might forgive the odd 'baby swapped in hospital' scenario, but after a few hours at home you'd recognise your own baby wouldn't you?

Specially if there's a physical issue (club foot). And what about PJs and things?

I'm so glad I don't watch EE anymore.

Well I've got one more episode to watch (tomorrow's) and then I am officially no longer an EE viewer, after 25 years. I have no wish to watch a pile of sensationalist crap that insults my intelligence into the bargain.

I'll watch Corrie instead Wink

A good friend of mine suffered a stillbirth ten years ago. She finds it deeply distressing that whenever there is a death of a baby in a TV programme, the bereaved mother inevitably steals a baby from someone else.
She says it is insulting to all those bereaved parents. She told me a list of programmes it has happened in- The Bill, Holby City, Corrie, the list went on and on.
Not helpful to anyone is that awful situation.

My mum was staying with us at Christmas, she's a big Corrie fan, I'm now back on Corrie... I only have room for one soap in my life. Eastenders was on the edge before I heard about this storyline but now... looks like I'm moving to ITV Sad

I just think its wrong. Wrong timing, bad taste, factually incorrect, wrong, wrong, wrong.

I don't find it offensive at all, and I lost a baby to SIDS. I think it is good that it raises awareness.

I do wonder how this storyline will end, though. We are about 2 weeks behind the UK out here, so it's not even Christmas yet on Eastenders.

I think it's really sad and shameful that they could have potrayed a SIDs storyline more accurately but have chosen not to. It could have been equally dramatic and memorable, if not more so. How many mothers (or fathers) would swap their baby anyway? I doubt in reality there are many, and there are probably a fair few grieving mothers who have gone through even more past heartache than Ronnie.

I watched a programme once on women who had snatched babies from hospitals or wherever. None of them had lost a baby, aleast not in the death sense. They had all done it to save a relationship- their marriage was failing and they thought a baby would save it. Don't kno0w though if it they struggled TTC or it was instant results they were after.

This storyline is really pissing me off! Not the fact that are doing a story on SIDS but the whole stealing another baby - stupid, lazy story writing and like others have said, an insult to mums who have lost babies like this.

I hate that they are going to do this story, it makes me angry!

My mum was given the wrong baby in the hospital and was pooh-pooh'd by the nurses. She was adamant that she'd been given the wrong baby - and eventually with a flourish proclaimed that "this morning" her baby wasn't in posession of a penis!

But of course it's daft that a woman wouldn't recognise her own baby - but it's only EE and people shouldn't be getting their knickers in a twist about it. In real life pubs don't burn down with alarming regularity, people don't run away to Brazil to avoid the fuzz - trams don't crash, need I go on?

It's not even the most offensive thing about the storyline, I tuned in last week to see Kat + Ronnie displaying neat bumps. Wtf were the wobbling arses & puffy faces? HmmGrin

I'm the same as LazyLadybird and have had enough of Eastenders and swapped to ITV soaps. For the first time ever I've been watching Emmerdale and actually finding it pretty good, much more lighthearted than other soaps.

I think the Eastenders baby storyline is a step too far, their storylines seem to be getting more and more over the top recently, and some are actually quite disturbing, especially for something that goes out before 9pm.

Well, tbh i do find it offensive. Granted my baby didn't die through SIDS, but what i do bloody well object to is the insinuation that all bereaved parents are deranged baby stealers. When DS1 died i wanted him. I didn't want anyone else's baby, i wanted my own sweet, beautiful boy.

The longer that this storyline runs, the longer people will see bereaved mothers in a bad light - i.e. as people who are capable of stealing someone else's baby because they can't have their own, and that simply is not true.

AlpinePony the same thing happened to my mum when I was born (except it was another baby girl they gave her). She said that although she had only seen me for a few minutes after I was born before she passed out she knew the baby she was given when she woke up wasn't hers immediately.

do you remember the mad doctor who was infertile and tried to do a home c-section and then nick Dawn's baby? I was going through ivf at the time and there were lots of heated discussions on the fertility forum I was on about whether it was insulting to portray infertile women like that...

Have been a loyal Enders fan since it started when I was about 12 but some storylines do put me off and I think this might be one of them..

I find storylines like this very frustrating!!! like you wouldnt notice someone swapped your baby!!!!is it just me or has kat had a huge pregnant belly for like - ever!!!! I dont think ill be able to watch this -too sad :( Sorry to hear about your boy deemented :( xxx
