didnt know they existed tbh but surely they are more open to abuse than the disabled and mum and baby ones? Should be interesting.

they already do extra wide parking spaces in tesco car parks

theevildead2 · 29/12/2010 18:54

RIven our grandmothers might have popped to the local village shop for a couple of bits. They didnt have to drive to a shop park a mile away and push 2 weeks worth of shopping to the car and then load it

Fenouille · 29/12/2010 18:55

Goodness knows how it would be policed but having been blocked from getting into my car a few times while pg by people parking too close to my car I like the concept.

High heel parking... ohh LMAO!

TheParasiteofChristmasPast · 29/12/2010 18:56

our grandmothers would have crawled on their hands and knees and been grateful

VallhalaLalalalalalalalaaaaaa · 29/12/2010 18:56

The majority of pregnant women don't need priority parking spaces. God knows how my Nans coped - one of them had 13 children and no car!

I would have found priority parking far more useful when I had cancer than when I was pregnant. Perhaps that should be the next step. And then priority for those with gout. And then for those with sprained ankles...

if you think pregnant women need special parking you are a nob head

VallhalaLalalalalalalalaaaaaa · 29/12/2010 18:59

evildead, one of my Grandmothers had 5 children, all born within the space of 9 years. She lived in London, easily a mile from the nearest shop and pushed a pram loaded with baby, toddler and groceries up a bloody great hill.

TheMonster · 29/12/2010 19:00

I like the idea of spaces for fat people. I am fat and no-one could dispute it!

theevildead2 · 29/12/2010 19:01

But I bet you she'd have not said no to a car and a "expecting space" valhalla! Grin

SauvignonBlanche · 29/12/2010 19:01

Great - fat people spaces!

tingelingle · 29/12/2010 19:02

Lol, I love these threads. Does it matter?!

hottiemamma · 29/12/2010 19:03

I think this is a super idea. I'm a bit of a fatty and could easily be mistaken for preggers so less walking for me at Asda. Brillo.

theevildead2 · 29/12/2010 19:03

Anyway the ASDA car parks are HUGE so what if they stick a few expectant mother parking spaces? It is a marketing ploy, it's nice. And why wouldn't they try and sweeten up some great big fat pregnant women before they go and spend all their money on baby stuff?

roulade · 29/12/2010 19:05

They should just make all the spaces wider then people wouldn't be fighting over the parent & child/pregnant spaces unless they were really lazy and then actually police the use of the disabled spaces so that only blue badge holders used them.

TheParasiteofChristmasPast · 29/12/2010 19:06

everyone at asda is obese so all the spaces accommodate the wider girth

TheMonster · 29/12/2010 19:07

That'd work for me, too, hottie. WOuld make a change from limping when I use a disabled space Grin

MrsCratchit · 29/12/2010 19:07

Will they be issuing Tesco style baby club parking permits, I wonder?

Whilst I understand that lots of women have problem pregnancies and may have trouble walking I do wonder how, if that's the case, they get round the shop, which at 32 weeks I'm finding to be the tricky bit. Online deliveries from next week...!

Brill idea Riven.

Too intelligent to ever actually be implemented though

Sorry but pregnancy parking spaces can only be there for 2 reasons:

1 - because pregnant lady can't walk an extra few yards (in which case how will she walk around the supermarket?)

2 - because pregnant lady is too fat for regular spaces (in which case they need to have special parking for fat people as well)

Here is the thing though - excercise in pregnancy is GENERALLY a good thing. It aint gonna kill you to walk a few yards to the supermarket entrance.

Binfullofgibletsonthe45 · 29/12/2010 19:21

In our local shopping centre they have "frauen" parkplatz - translated ladies parking space. Right at the front of the stores doorscand elevators on the first floor. They are extra wide too! I was so disparaging!!!! How discriminatory I announced to my dh all the way round the shops.

Cut to last week when I couldn't be arsed to walk after glandular fever. They were bloody ace. Especially after lugging a bloody great cast iron fondue set down a flight of stairs. I even gave two guys evil looks and large finger pointy gestures to the signs when they tried to park in the spaces. Blush Blush
