Saw someone wearing this today...

DH and I were Hmm to say the least. Even more so having seen the description on the above link.

Jeez. Angry

I'm not overthinking this, am I? I'm not sure who it's more offensive to - obese people (of which I am one according to BMI) or anorexics.

I could do with this one Xmas Grin

I didn't think the Anorexic one was offensive in itself, it is a bit 'tongue in cheek' but the description was Xmas Hmm

DH and DD, who are both severely dyslexic, love this one

festiveflashingmammaries · 28/12/2010 17:25

It is funny

The t-shirt itself i dont find at all offensive, as when you are walking down the street with it on, nobody is being the description on the website, they are simply seeing man/woman wearing a t-shirt that says "i beat anorexia".
IF i saw an obese person wearing it, and it was purely in jest, i think (as someone who has an eating disorder)i would find it funny and see the funny side of it.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 28/12/2010 17:33

So Kaloki...it would only be offensive if a fat person wore it?

KalokiMallow · 28/12/2010 17:37

Where did you get that idea from?

Just so you know, I am now fat, and have experienced anorexia.

It would be offensive if someone wore it because they thought it was funny. If they wore it because they had beaten anorexia it wouldn't bother me.

funmother · 28/12/2010 17:38

"nobody is being the description on the website, they are simply seeing man/woman wearing a t-shirt that says "i beat anorexia"."..sorry, that was meant to say "nobody is reading the description".

KalokiMallow · 28/12/2010 17:42

Basically I find it offensive that at some point somebody made up this t-shirt because they thought it'd be really funny to sell to people under the description on the website.

It has been made solely to be sold through that website under that category.

It has not been made as a statement about actually recovering from anorexia, otherwise it wouldn't have that description.

It's not the people that might wear it that bother me (so much), it's the people that make it.
