YANBU, UnrulySanta.

Half of all women murdered in Ireland every year are murdered by domestic partners.

sixpercenttruejedi - the Met did a great ad campaign during the world cup that focused on what bystanders should do. Shame it was such a limited campaign and so rare.

Dial 999 if you hear domestic violence. You make the call, we'll make it stop.

ccpccp · 30/12/2010 18:23

Post deleted? For real?

Any chance a MNHQ mod. would let me know what was wrong with it?

sixpercenttruejedi · 30/12/2010 18:36

earwicga - thanks for the link, I was totally unaware of that campaign. I agree it's a shame about the rarity.

ccpccp - your post was a personal attack, surely you must have suspected it would be deleted.

ccpccp · 30/12/2010 18:44

Personal attack?

What Unrulysanta posted was a personal attack on anyone who didnt agree with her. I just invited her to go away unless she wanted to contribute without the venom.

FFS - is this AIBU or a bubblewrap factory? Too many posters giving it out then crying when they get a bit back.

Anyone know how many reports it takes to get a deletion? I certainly hope it wasnt any of you regular lot on the button.

sixpercenttruejedi · 30/12/2010 18:50

invited her to go away? Hmm

ccpccp · 30/12/2010 19:05

It was a justified response to the provocation.

I reserve the right to tell anyone to 'go away' if their opening post dismisses valid arguments with comments like 'You're sad little men, sad little trolls or bitter fucked up women'

Perhaps I should lower my standards and start using the report button too? If MNHQ delete on such minor offences it would certainly level the playing field a bit. Hmm

earwicga · 30/12/2010 19:06

Crimestoppers Scotland also offers advice to bystanders, including calling them Domestic Violence - Break the silence in Scotland

mathanxiety · 30/12/2010 19:27

'It was a justified response to the provocation.'

Sounds like a line the police would hear when called out.

ccpccp · 30/12/2010 19:43

Its a real shame you didnt see the deleted message mathanxiety.

Ahh well. Next time I guess. I'll know to keep the 'personal insults' in their own little posts from now on.

mathanxiety · 30/12/2010 20:06

Why do you think I should have seen it?

Ephiny · 30/12/2010 20:13

I was just thinking how ironic this whole thing is - someone starts a thread about violence against women, ccpccp barges in shouting about some men's issue and demanding that everyone talk about that instead and pay attention to him and his Important Man Stuff, and generally trying to control and dominate the conversation. And if women try to point out the unpleasantness and rudeness of this, they get shouted down in a very aggressive way and told to shut up or fuck off. And it's their fault, not his, because they 'provoked' him Hmm. Complete lack of self-awareness.

It would actually be funny if it wasn't so disturbing. It makes me wonder what exactly is your interest in silencing anyone who wants to raise awareness of violence against women, and trying to discredit organisations like Women's Aid? I really hope you're just trolling and we're not seeing someone's real personality and motivations here.

ccpccp · 30/12/2010 20:17

"Why do you think I should have seen it?"

It was one of my better ones.

mayorquimby · 30/12/2010 20:17

Not that I'm agreeing with ccpccp's arguments on this thread but it was not him who brought up the issue of dv regarding men, in fact I'm not even sure with it was a man.
As for his language I would contend that he responded in kind to the type of language used by the person who he directed his post at.
Not that I agree with what he said but I would say that they were both as bad as each other.

Unrulysanta · 30/12/2010 22:14

It's possibly a shame I didn't see it.

Unrulysanta · 30/12/2010 22:18

Ephiny you've said that so well. :)

I really need to stop feeding the trolls don't I? Grin

mathanxiety · 30/12/2010 22:50

Glad I missed it then.
