WORK ETHIC seems Tory as a phrase

But thats because of my age Female-broadcasters use the phrase Work ethic a lot.The men never seem to use it. Maybe its because the women are doing 2 jobs. The phrase is said to hAve religious origins. Its a big subject

Associated with Protestantism, originating in (?) Victorian times. Possibly Whig.

yes, I supect now it is more religious. I just noticed thegender difference in its us. G.L uses it.

Are you saying it is a phrase more often used by females? (and have you got any more evidence for this than G.L?) Or are you saying you think it is a phrase used by Tories? (not entirely sure this is true either) Or are you saying that female presenters are Tories?

I think you are right about the protestant origins, but I would say it is used far more generally these days.
