To be feeling a bit miffed?

In a nutshell - hubby bought me an xmas pressie at the weekend. He 'hid' it and I saw it - a bloody foot spa! He's usually so thoughtful and buys great gifts.

Anyway, yesterday DD and I were taliking about xmas and what would be top of your christmas list. I took my chance and switched it round to what you would least like to receive...at which point I said 'oh something tacky like a foot spa or home manicure which will sit in a cupboard and never get used'.

Anyway, she's obviously told DD cos the bag has gone and he's got it in the boot of his car.

I feel miffed that he really thought I would like something like that (sorry to anyone reading who thinks it would be a top present - each to their own), but inexplicably guilty that he is now having to take it back and that he must realise that he got it all wrong.

yabu. and ungrateful. and quite mean to make hints like that in the knowledge that he would find out.

YANBU - how boring!

Don't u think th wannaBe that it's better this way than having to act happy on xmas day ( then ask for the receipt and probably caused an argument?)

Over the years DH and I have come to the arrangement whereby we each choose what we would like from the other for Christmas, up to an agreed budget. Then we just buy it and the other wraps it. Xmas Grin

Maybe this takes the potential for a lovely surprise out of Christmas, but if you have a clueless DH it's the only way to go, IMHO!

Thaks Yule - sounds like you have a good system going!
I'm upset to think that he would think I would want something like that. He's always bought me such lovely gifts, put a lot of thought into it.
And then there's this horrible guilt in the pit of my stomach that won't go away.

YABU. I think you are being ungrateful.

I'd love a footspa! Xmas Grin

BubbaAndBump · 21/12/2010 09:25

YABU - he obviously thought you'd like it. I can see why you'd think it was boring, but as he "usually so thoughtful and buys great gifts" then he was probably thoughtful this time but got it wrong. Glad I don't have to buy things for you!

lol @ Yulephemia - not my way of doing it, but at least you can't be ungrateful for what you receive!!

I'm dead easy to buy for Bubba - however anything that smacks of "JML" really isn't my bag! If he wants me to have soft feet then buy me a spa voucher!!
Hairyfairy - keep an eye on ebay after xmas -in case he hasn't taken it back, I'll be selling one cheap!
