I think girls should have girl's names.

SantasNutellaFairy · 20/12/2010 18:59

No way would I ever think of Darius as anything other than male.

Darius was the name of 3 kings of Persia.

The other names you mention as well- I would only truly think of Ashley as truly unisex.

Jordan, Hayden and Cameron are all boyish names. In my opinion.

"Why not? It's you who will carry, bear and raise your daughter, not us, it's your choice"

Except it is your daughter who has to live with it, not you. My mother loved an ill-advised name but went with it anyway. It was hell until I changed my surname. if only she'd had MN to ask.

don't be silly

I teach a year 13 female darius. To my knowledge she has never been laughed at. It's just her name - people will get used to it.
Fwiw, my friend's daughter is called Aeron - no one laughs at her, either :)

Find a book of names and look in the girl's section!

Not boy's names, not shapes, shops, cars, feelings, types of vegetables or kitchen utensils. Pick a girl's name that everybody knows is a name for a girl.

If you like Darius for a name so much why not change your own name to it? You wouldn't would you. Because you'd feel stupid every time you have to tell somebody what your name is because it's such a stupid name.

YABU and stupid.
