The woman tore off my eyebrows! and right before Christmas!

Friday I went to get my eyebrows waxed, and the woman tore off a layer of skin just under my eyebrows. It's now scabbed over! I just want to cancel Christmas and hide from all the family. I'm using aloe vera like the woman said, but I'm slowly getting really upset.

ouch. YABU.
next year you'll laugh about it.
I spent £25 having my hair curled on friday for a night out. I looked like margaret thatcher and went straight home where Dh and the boys laughed at me. I had to wash it and start again.
Don't cancel christmas, have you got some big vintage style hollywood sunglasses?

AstridsTardisDisaster · 19/12/2010 12:27

sorry no, YANBU!

PressureDrop · 19/12/2010 12:28

I hope you didn't pay her!

Don't get your eyebrows waxed ever again. I know so many people this has happened to. It's too delicate an area to wax. Stick to threading or plucking in future.

chitchatinsantasear · 19/12/2010 12:29

YANBU!!!! Also try to add a bit of lavender oil to the aloe vera to help it heal a bit faster. (Oh and go back and get your money back!!!!!!)

Please tell us you did not pay her?

SantasENormaSnob · 19/12/2010 12:39

Sounds like the maybe wax was too hot.

I would be inclined to complain tbh.

If it makes you feel better I had mine a few christmases ago at a salon I don't normally use. They were fucking hideous and not even the same size and shape and one was about an inch longer than the other.

CheeseCrackers · 19/12/2010 12:40

PressureDrop - I paid her. I'm a mug - and don't like to complain really. I'll stick to threading now.
Thanks chitchatsantasear, I'll try lavender oil. I'm snowed in so can't get to a shop at the moment! AAArrgghhhh. Will steaming my face help? Any home remedies?

OP posts:
DorisIsAPinkDragon · 19/12/2010 12:52

I wouldn't steam the skin has already been burnt (if it's scabbed) more heat won't help the situation I second the lavender oil and aloe fingers crossed things improve quickly.

adrenalinejunkie · 19/12/2010 15:02

Maybe try a healing cream like sudocrem, you should put in a official complaint what she has done is completely neglegent, I have don e beauty therapy training and one thing you are told repeatedly is to always make sure the wax is not too hot as is can cause burns .

SantasENormaSnob · 19/12/2010 15:04

Don't put oil on a burn.

FakePlasticTrees · 19/12/2010 15:07

Don't use oil! Try NHS direct for ideas.

Alouiseg · 19/12/2010 15:10

That could only have happened if the wax was too hot, your skin was unprepared and the technician ...a bit slapdash!!

You should expect a refund, at the very least!

upahill · 19/12/2010 15:11

I would take a photo quickly as proof before the sore has a chance to die down.

Use that as your witness especially if the salon is shut tomorrow.

blinks · 19/12/2010 15:12

i really think phoning nhs direct about this is an abuse of the service... best just to let it heal, keep it clean and don't put any make up on it to prevent infection. i would avoid cream entirely but if you insist, calendula cream is good for small burns.

cardibach · 19/12/2010 15:16

I took all the skin off my nose in a mishap with the car parcel shelf at my Hen Night (fortunately a week before my wedding not the day before!). I covered it with special make-up for scars which I bught in a large Boots, I think. If they don't heal in time, you could use this option for Christmas - nobody noticed on the day and I can only just see the outline on the photos because I know it's there.

cardibach · 19/12/2010 15:18

Incidently, I agree with blinks that you shouldn't routinely put make up on it - just if you have a really special 'do' to go to and it has scabbed over.

TattyDevine · 19/12/2010 15:26

I'd leave it to scab and do its thing naturally, you gotta let the scab dry out a bit really.

With any luck it will be ready to come away on its own by actual Christmas and you can then cover any redness left with makeup pretty safely.

Eliza70 · 19/12/2010 16:55

Ths happened me with my 'tache. I went back to the salon and they gave me a medicated cream / gel to use which did help a bit. It was specially for burns.

TheFarSide · 19/12/2010 17:01

Let it dry out and hopefully the scab will have fallen off long before Xmas.
