Kids were going to be meeting newish man but under cover - we were doing some stuff that he's involved with so they were going to meet him as a mate, it's something DD1 in particular is very very interested in.

Ah well

Baroness, the roads are clear tonight. I have friends arriving (hopefully) from UK tonight. Sunday it is supposed to snow and lay. I think Monday is meant to be better.

Belgian Motorway webcams here

Pantofino · 17/12/2010 19:55

It is fecking cold out mind Xmas Grin

Pantofino · 17/12/2010 19:58

And the Belgian MN MeetUp tomorrow night! I will be most upset if snow stops people from coming!

OmniaParatus · 17/12/2010 20:08

I feel your pain, I live in central Scotland and got my week ruined last week.
Meant to be seeing a comedian last Monday- first night out DH and I have had in months (3yr old, 1.5yr old and 6 months pg).

Instead, all buses are cancelled and DH had to walk 10 miles home- arrives home after 7 hours, and the bloody gig goes ahead anyway even though there was no transport Angry.

To top it all off, DH had to go to Berlin on Wed and was stranded there till Fri. He then went to Manchester and got stranded for 9 hours, and made it home just before his birthday (by 5 min!)

Don't worry, the bloody stuff goes away eventually and you can get your life back Smile.

Now its snowing again and have a fridge full of food for 30 party guests on Sunday that won't be able to get up our road.

Bloodymary · 18/12/2010 10:25

OK can I just ask who DOES NOT have snow this morning.
We are in the South East and were pretty smug until yesterday afternoon.

andchips · 18/12/2010 10:31

bloodymary I have a very little splattering - maybe 1cm here in NW Kent? But, its gone straight to ice, so the minor roads are lethal. Luckily main roads seem clear so we will bus it places today

Bloodymary · 18/12/2010 10:48

SmokinSanta the ice is even worse isnt it.
At least your main roads are clear.
We are going to be stuck in today, whilst I worry if I can get a Waitrose delivery between now and Cristmas eve!!!

alibobins · 18/12/2010 10:49

We have no snow Nottingamshire

reallywoundup · 18/12/2010 10:53

i'm getting a tad pissed off with people moaning about amazon not bringing their christmas presents... our 15yo dsd finished boarding school yesterday but they are snowed in as are we and the school have told us not to attempt to get there... never mind bloody parcels... i've got a 15yo stuck in the delivery system Grin (not sure if this is actually a blessing in disguise- an extra few days of peace before the "I hate you... you're not my mum" starts Wink)

mumoverseas · 18/12/2010 10:58

I hate the bastard snow. DC1 and 2 at LHR due to fly to ME for chrismas and am being told it is touch or go whether their flight will take off. Due to take off in 30 mins and the airline are rushing everyone to the gate to try to get the plane off early before the airport is shut.
if their flight is cancelled have been told no more seats available until after Christmas Sad

reallywound up whereabouts is your DC?

westlake · 18/12/2010 11:00

we don't have snow here in Lincoln, but we have already had our fair share! The ice has only just melted from last time, it was treacherous!

Really hope we don't get any more...I've got parents flying over from Kuwait and kiddies to be picked up and dropped off in the family over the christmas period.

You have my sympathies if you get the snow this round, not much fun I know. The are did look bloody lovely though, I have to say :-)

reallywoundup · 18/12/2010 11:00

on the border in Shropshire near Oswestry- really not impressed atm. I was due to collect her last night but we have no chance atm- my 4x4 can't even get down the lane Sad

mumoverseas · 18/12/2010 11:02

oh christ reallywound up. DD was collected from her boarding school in Surrey last night and it took 5 hours to do the normal 1 1/2 hour trip to Heathrow. sodding snow Angry

HarkTheTragicalyHipHeraldAngel · 18/12/2010 11:02

Friends are meant to be coming over tonight for dinner.

Doesn't look like they will make it now Xmas Sad

AngryPixie · 18/12/2010 11:12
