to think amazon are getting a lot of flack when they are not resposible for the weather or royal mail?

i know there's lots of parcels not being delivered, 3 of them are mine. but surely it's royal mail/snow that are holding it up, not amazon themselves.

blame amazon when you order brown kickers (that's kickers as in the shoes, not knickers) and get sent silver ones instead Confused

I'm with you. Amazon have never ever let me down, and the parcels will get here eventually. They really are very good. In fact this is the first time ever my stuff has not arrived in a couple of days.

newwave · 16/12/2010 23:09

I wonder how many who did not go to work due to the bad weather/snow are now moaning about late delivery.

It has happened to me and I put a picture of the birthday present in a wrapped box and said "thats your present when it arrives"

EvilTwinsAteRudolph · 16/12/2010 23:11

No, I reckon Amazon are part of the problem. DH and I both orderd lots online a couple of weeks ago. Everything else has come. The only things we're waiting for are Amazon parcels.

I suspect it's a combination of weather/post (not their fault) and a huge amount of demand (which they ought to have anticipated). I ordered some shoes from a website on Saturday, and they arrived on Tuesday, from Edinburgh (we're in the South West) If it was entirely the weather/post at fault, then there would surely be an equal amount of delay, no matter where things were ordered.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 16/12/2010 23:13

They're getting flack because they emailed customers today with updated "last order" dates, saying that people will get their stuff in time for Xmas. Some of us are dubious, having been waiting for Amazon deliveries for a fortnight or more.

And I love Amazon, I order tonnes of stuff from them, so will be very pissed off if the stuff I ordered today (on the strength of their email) doesn't actually arrive on time.

lucykate · 16/12/2010 23:14

i can understand it to a certain extent, i mean, we live in the uk, cold weather, snow and ice is such a shock at this time of year. and don't get me started on christmas, it's just comes so out of the blue. we need at least a years advance notice Wink

you can forgive the snow but what is not acceptable is when it takes more than 5 days + to dispatch when they are still promising 'expedited delivery'. I ordered a kindle and 9 days later they still haven't dispatched - they hadn't anticipated the level of demand!!!! yet they are still accepting orders for Christmas delivery.

hogfather · 17/12/2010 00:34

generally i love amazon but as i posted on the other thread I ordered items on 26/11 before the snow and they still havent even been dispatched (despite being advertised as being in stock) so cant blame RM or couriers.

Amazon book deliveries are fine but it's some of the Marketplace suppliers that can take longer.

I've had problems with items getting damaged in transit though. They must have too few staff, packing things too fast.

hogfather · 17/12/2010 01:14

shoppingdays my order was a book bought through Amazon rather than marketplace, showing in stock and still hasnt arrived or even been dispatched nearly 3 weeks later.

I technically could cancel my order and buy it in a bookstore but the price was nearly £10 difference in the rrp hence why i went with Amazon Sad

ShoppingDays · 17/12/2010 01:16

Oh dear hogfather, must be different experiences from different people then. Know how frustrating it is, as I've had to send a faulty book back from Amazon and order it from somewhere else at a higher price.

suzikettles · 17/12/2010 01:16

GiddyPickle, I'm in Scotland and one of my packages was routed from Scotland to Hertfordshire and then back to Scotland Confused. It was finally delivered not 5 miles from where it started off.

The tracking is really fascinating - presumably it's all about some sort of logistics I don't understand.

AspieGirl · 17/12/2010 01:37

I'm still cross that they don't send me Christmas prezzies for being a good customer anymore. I still have my jenga game and plastic mug thing.

We're not snowed in at all here and are close to the MK amazon depot. However deliveries are still slow. Dispatch from Amazon has been quite quick though, so I don't think it's Amazon at fault.

(Where's my copy of Cataclysm!!!!!)

I blame Amazon when they say to me on the phone they can't deliver by Xmas although their website says they can. I was chasing some missing parcels and they've all gone missing in the post.

XmascarolOfFact · 17/12/2010 18:53

I've ordered things from all over the web, but it's only the Amazon parcels that are taking 10 days or more to reach me. They are usually so good that I forget how flakey their December deliveries are until it's too late.

EcoLady · 17/12/2010 19:07

Amazon's customer service is not helping. I am chasing two packages which show on tracking as delivered on 10th Dec by Home Delivery Network - they were not delivered.

Amazon told me to take it up with HDNL, who in turn told me that I have to pursue it via Amazon. Those two phone calls took nearly 2 hours!

Amazon then told me I'd have to wait until 21st Dec before they would consider replacements, but they would not arrive in time.

Next time I spoke to them it was still 21st Dec, but they'd be sent Express and they would guarantee delivery in time.

Today they sent me an e-mail declaring the items "missing" and asking whether I want refunds or replacements.

Plus 2 other orders without tracking as they puit them in the Royal Mail.

No items from any other supplier are delayed. Not one! And I do all my shopping online.
