Dc each came home from school with a pack of Christmas cards today.

The school have apparently got the children to colour in a xmas picture that they have then had printed onto xmas cards.

They then expect us parents to pay £6 for a pack of just 8 cards. we weren't even asked about this before hand, they've just sent the kids home with the cards knowing how bloody hard it would be for parents to say no!

I have 4 DC in the school!!! TWENTYFOUR BASTARD POUNDS

The PTA don't get all the money btw. They will probably get 10% of the sales

Te way they have done it is very underhand imo. Would be slightly different if the DCs had designed them as well.

ShrinkingViolet · 15/12/2010 21:03

at our school the DC did the whole design themselves, we were given an order form, so could order or not as we chose. I got 12 cards for £5 which is a much more reasonable price (have realised that DD3 can't spell Christmas though, so need ot remember not to send one of those cards to competitive SIL Wink)

AspieGirl · 15/12/2010 21:10

Horrid Child's school did this, £2 a pack...I bought 'em, so did my mum. £2 is much better than £6 though.

Dropdeadfred · 15/12/2010 21:14

Our school also showed us the design and sent home an order form...they were lovely! Wink

QueeferSantaland · 15/12/2010 21:19

Eighteen quid!!

FFS, I was spitting feathers when the school asked for £5 for DD to go to the school disco.

But EIGHTEEN POUNDS!Xmas Angry

SantaIsMyLoveSlave · 15/12/2010 21:21

Printing them first is just mean. DS's school does Christmas cards but they send the picture they've done home and then if we want to order cards we send it back with the order form, so if we don't / if we just want to scan it and print our own cards there's no problem.

domesticsluttery · 15/12/2010 21:25

Wow, that is expensive!

Our DC's school did similar (but it was drwan by them and not just coloured in), but they sent a proof copy of the cards home at half term and we had to order however many packs we wanted. It was £3.50 for a pack of 10. I have 3 DC so ordered one pack of each, but split them with my mum and MIL so we only paid £3.50 each and ended up with a mixed pack each IYSWIM.

Imarriedafrog - School's not in a town near an airport and the school begins with a 'H' is it? If it is, I thank you - all the grandparent's Xmas presents sorted for £10. If not, then thank you for inspiring who ever brought the idea to DD1's school.

JaJaBinks - £6 for 8 cards is daylight robbery! What do they think parents are made of?

thisisyesterday · 15/12/2010 21:52

TS.. no, but she's only in the next town!

TruthSweet · 15/12/2010 22:00

Oh nearly. Mind you I could do with a kick up the arse to join the PTA for DD1's school, I'm on enough committees as it is one more wouldn't hurt Wink

SuchProspects · 15/12/2010 22:16

If they've sent them hoe with your kids when you haven't ordered them then I don't think you're legally obliged to pay for or return them. You can just let them know they will need to collect the cards within (I think) one month or you will dispose of them.

That might make them think twice next year...

SuchProspects · 15/12/2010 22:23

Err, hoe=home Blush

As a CoG in a Primary School I would be livid if this happened. Fortunately, I know my my Head and SMT just would not consider it. Send the cards back with a stiff note to both the Head and your CoG.

There are better and fairer ways of raising monies for the school.
