to expect my complaint re xfactor to be taken seriously

shazzg · 15/12/2010 12:15

just complained to itv, ofcom and talk back tv re content of xfactor and frankly, felt a bit fobbed off and patronised.
i wanted a proper written response but 'can't' be given one - i also wanted to speak to the one person who edits the show at talk back but got fobbed off.

any one else complained/got anywhere??

whoknowswhatthefutureholds · 15/12/2010 12:45

well to be fair 2000 people have compailained!

NerdyFace · 15/12/2010 12:47

They would probably need more than 0.1% of the viewing figures to complain before they did anything more than laugh at every complaint and light cigars with the burning bits of paper your complaints will be printed on!

theevildead2 · 15/12/2010 12:47

Well I think if you want anything to be taken seriously re: XFACTOR your'e probablt being a bit unreasonable

bluenordic · 15/12/2010 12:48

2000 complaints out of 17000000 viewers. I don't think they'll give a flying f**k.

lurkermalurker · 15/12/2010 12:49

What were you complaining about? turned over half way through...

mamadiva · 15/12/2010 13:08

Is this the 'X-rated' thing again Hmm

Yes they should have taken you seriously BUT you can't seriously expect them to put you through to the person who edited the show!

I saw the Rhianna performance which my 15 year old brother was delighted with... but did not see Christina so I don't know what the fuss is abour.

I do have to say though that Christina is known for her raunchy shows and given the fct that she was only on to promote a film in which she plays a burlesque dancer I don't really think it makes any sense to whinge about it.

Although did make me giggle that they allowed this and have recieved 2000+ complaints when they banned Take that from performing their new single with dancers in riot gear... as it was innapropraite and offensive to some :o

PuppyMonkey · 15/12/2010 13:11

It was a bit off the whole show I agree, and good for you for complaining. but maybe you should, you know, move on now??

QuizteamBleakley · 15/12/2010 13:11

What was your complaint regarding? Was it that little kick thing that Dermot does when he walks to the end of the stage? If so, YANBU. If it was about some thigh then YAB a tad U.

NerdyFace · 15/12/2010 13:13

There is an air of "Troll" about Shazzg from some previous posts of "Her/Him/It's" posts.

So tbh I wouldn't pay much attention, the "Put through to the editor" business makes me think that.

mamadiva · 15/12/2010 13:18

Quiz- I think Dermot has a nervous twitch so it can't really be complained about surely? :o

shazzg · 15/12/2010 20:31

jesus - thanks for your ...ahem..support sisters .....nerdy face what are you on about and what's a troll??

i feel like you're taking the piss but not sure what you mean.......

OP posts:
shazzg · 15/12/2010 20:38

right nerdyface just looked up ''troll'' and i can assure you I am not posing as someone else, stirring up trouble or banging on about my own adgenda (or whatever the description was) i am a 38 yr old mum of 2 girls who feels very very very strongly about the constant bombardment of sexism and misogyny by mainstream press/tv. I am very into direct action and complain to appropriate agencies all the time (rather than come onto the internet and whinge).

i feel i got totally fobbed off today by staff at thames talk and itv - they usually atleast pretend to give a shit.I wondeed what others had found....
if that's being a troll then i'm a troll - nerdyface.it's easy to sit on your arse and moan in a chat room and hard to try an take direct action tho innit nerd??????

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 15/12/2010 20:43

shazz not sure why you are being at best dismissed and at worse accused of being a troll on this thread

I completely agree with you !

why should she "move on" ? Xmas Hmm

wubbzy1981 · 15/12/2010 20:43

To be fair I do not think it appropriate for my kids either, but then they were in bed at 9pm on a school night.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 15/12/2010 20:45

wubbz...the footage shazz was referring to was at 8:40pm on a Saturday night

get you facts straight, eh

SleightiesChick · 15/12/2010 20:46

I'm not sure why the hostile response either. Yes, there is an off button but it's legitimate to complain about what was previously a family-friendly show going all 15 certificate. Why should she switch off?

Shazz, agree you should get a written response (counting email in with that) but the one area where I think you're expecting too much is in speaking to the editor. Otherwise YANBU.

ifancyashandy · 15/12/2010 20:47

Ummm.... the show is Live - it isn't edited. There are editors working on the show but they work on the VT inserts (the 'I want to win so badly' films) and have no real control over the content of the programme.

If you want to speak to one of the people who is responsible for content, you need to speak to an Executive Producer. Watch the end credits, see the names and write to them c/o the Production Company.

But if you asked to be put though to Viewers Comments (or emailed them) at ITV, then your comment will get heard / read.

insider knowledge.

wubbzy1981 · 15/12/2010 20:48

Same applies even at 8.40pm on a saturday.

Don't like it turn off. Simple. If enough people did that through disapproval, ITV would soon get the message and scrap it anyway.

ifancyashandy · 15/12/2010 20:48

ps - question that's been bothering me over the past few days - why do people find the performances on last weeks X Factor so offensive but not the M&S ad with the gorgeous ladies dancing about in their knickers. Now, granted it's much shorter but it's the same, no? And that as goes out at all hours of the day and night....just sayin'

JaquelinehydeAllThePresents · 15/12/2010 20:54

I don't actually agree with your complaint, however, have you considered contacting Rhiannas management?

SleightiesChick · 15/12/2010 20:56

wubbzy See your point, but the people annoyed about this want ITV to know why they are switching off or unhappy. Just switching off doesn't make that clear.

ifancyashandy The ad isn't directly aimed at a famiyl audience, whereas many youngsters will be watching the X Factor and a lot of it's aimed at them. Plus the ASA is spineless and advertisers know they can get away with a lot.

Unwind · 15/12/2010 20:56

M&S lingerie models are simulating sex?

People are not complaining about revealing costumes - bikinis in context, or lingerie on lingerie models do not get many complaints.

Women objectified, female singers being expected to provide soft porn on a family show, while by contrast, the men wear suits, is inapropriate. Much more so than Take That in police helmets would have been.
