Interview today with Danni Minogue whose ds is 5 months old:

'I'm slightly taken aback when I discover she's still breastfeeding, just because her newly minted glossiness seems so far from the fuzzy haired, milky dressing- gowned image I associate with new motherhood.'

Well the sisterhood thanks you Jess Cartner Twunthead and wonders what further gems you have lined up for us.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Angry I used to expect better but really now I know not to.

I read it more that because she was 'still' bf, it struck her that her baby was quite young and jcm was taken aback at how glam she looked, when new mums in general, whether bf or not, have a less, err, glamorous image.

I thought dannii did a brilliant job of saying how much she enjoyed bf in the article. She looks fab at the moment, really happy.

Not quite young, I meant quite old.

Oh, you know what I mean.

Preggersplayspop · 11/12/2010 22:42

No I got it right first time.

Oh ffs I'm going to bed!

Nickiename · 11/12/2010 22:48

five months in isn't THAT 'new' isn't it? Lots of women are back at work when their babies are five months old. I saw a woman at school the other day who said, 'I used to see you at XX baby group, didn't I? You look just as glamorous now as you did then.' I didn't feel glamorous, but I wore dresses and makeup every day, and I didn't have an entourage and had two other children. PUtting on a bit of lippy isn't exactly climbing everest is it?

Nickiename · 11/12/2010 22:49

I breastfed my last for two years by the way. And worked, and wore makeup. I really don't think what the big deal is, and I do think implying that breastfeeding makes you look like shit is harmful and stupid.

NellieForbush · 11/12/2010 23:01

Ok my interpretation - motherhood makes you look like shit not breastfeeding. This is not uncommon (except for the glamorous Nickiename who can give herself a medal).

She's saying that DM is breastfeeding as well as looking amazing - not got an expensive maternity nurse to do the night feeds for her like so many celeb's.

Nickiename · 11/12/2010 23:07

I don't think I am AM glamorous. I think most of my friends looked just as attractive after having babies as before. I do NOT think you can look at a group of women the same age and tell which are mothers and which aren't. I do think that the astonishment that DM is breastfeeding and looks pretty much the way she used to is ridiculous. The baby is five months old - lots of women go back to work by then and look pretty much the same, give or take a few lbs.

And my kids could get a medal for not sleeping - all of the buggers! I still get more broken nights than not and the youngest is six
