www.teddingtoncheese.co.uk/acatalog/Teddington_Cheese_Scottish__12.html

Many Welsh cheeses on there too!

thx1138 · 09/12/2010 13:28

FFS love. One of the English cheeses listed is called "AMerican Farmhouse Cheddar". Why are you giving this lame website the time of day. Unless of course this is just a thinly veiled foreigner bashing thread.

does anyone get a really hilarious mental picture of anyone who uses the phrase 'bloody foreigners' (or spelling variations on that theme)?

And the notion that 'we' enter good songs into the eurovision song contest would be laughable (even without the OP thinking that England enters it rather than the UK).

As to the actual cheese thing: obviously whoever made the list/voted for it was American. As stockings says, they're mostly rip offs of famous European cheeses. I'm perfectly willing to believe that they make some good cheese in the USA (and not just velveeta).

Lucifera · 09/12/2010 13:49

blimey I though OP was joking - wasn't she? (backs away slowly)

Lucifera · 09/12/2010 13:50

oh sorry have just seen OP is male. But from his profile page I think he is joking.

GrimmaTheNome · 09/12/2010 13:50

I'm sure there are some good artisan cheesemakers in the US, in the same way that there are some jolly good microbreweries not just Bud and Miller Lite.

But the preponderance of US cheeses on that list is obviously biased.

When I lived in the usa one of the things I missed most was decent cheese. Even in Wisconsin - the cheese state - the selection was abysmal.

Francagoestohollywood · 09/12/2010 14:03

This list is a bit meh

But LOL at the world cup given to foreigners... did you really expect to win it?? Grin

DamselInDisgrace · 09/12/2010 14:11

I'm not convinced velveeta is really cheese. It isn't even really cheese-like.

I think its a bit unfair that people assume that the USA doesn't produce any good food. DH and I have been watching 'diners, drive ins and dives' and are quite impressed at how much cooking from scratch and effort in sourcing ingredients goes into the food in some really unlikely places. Obviously there's a fair amount of crap available to, but you can say exactly the same about here.

"blimey I though OP was joking - wasn't she? (backs away slowly)"

I assumed they were joking. It's pretty obvious

It is nice to see the spelling police are out today. Does it make you feel superior to point out peoples spelling mistakes?
I can imagine the conversation in your houses when DP gets home from work
"nice day love?"
"yes and you?"
"oh yes I am feeling rather pleased with myself for pointing out someones spelling mistakes on MN" smug grin

get a life you sad people

I never notice spelling mistakes pointed out when op post is a sad one

Relax.

France only got 11!

Scotland didn't get any.. and we have some very nice cheese.

And Eurovision entry is British, not English. Remember.. wee Lulu won it with "Boom Banga Bang".
