I was on the tube yesterday standing up and a women was sitting beside me looking at some papers and making notes. The papers had a Mumsnet heading but didn't seem to be a printout from Mumsnet IYSWIM. They looked like the results of a survey or a list of statistics. Saw 'currently employed' and 'newcomers'. AIBU unreasonable to have been curious and quite excited to have spotted this. What does everyone think she was up to?

Trolls lool over their Biscuits really disgustingly, counting them out, and counting them in. Eni fule kno that.

I don't like this thread, fear someone is going to get in trouble and I'm getting nervous on their behalf! Hopefully it'll be Justine herself, so no tell-off.

MissMashMissMash · 07/12/2010 13:37

I hope no-one does get in trouble MisSal, this was never my intention. I didn't see anything incriminating. Althought the man beside her was also looking over her shoulder, I wonder what he saw?

Why would someone get in trouble for reading work stuff on the tube?

booyhohoho · 07/12/2010 13:40

missmash, did the papers say what MNHQ are getting us all for xmas? Grin

Unrulysun · 07/12/2010 13:41

A MAN? Looking at Mumsnet stuff?

CristinaTheAstonishing · 07/12/2010 13:41

She should be comended for being so dedicated to her job and advertising it in her spare time :)

MisSalLaneous · 07/12/2010 13:51

Ah no, MissMash, I'm sure you didn't and they probably won't, I'm probably paranoid! And like you said, you didn't see anything confidential anyway.

MisSalLaneous · 07/12/2010 13:53

Cristina, I think probably because a lot of my work is confidential, so my first reaction is that I'd get in trouble if this ever happened. I blame auditing background, I also switch off my screen if I get up for a cup of water! I take it it's just me being mad. :)

MisSalLaneous · 07/12/2010 13:54

Loads of "probably"s in there Blush

SoNotWorthIt · 07/12/2010 13:56

I don't think i have filled in a survery recently where i answered if i was employed or new or not.

Deliaskis · 07/12/2010 14:00

[voice of reason] I imagine it might have been someone from any old random company looking to advertise, reading demographic data to see if this was the right place.

Sorry, that's boring and totally unintriguing isn't it?

ChickensHaveNoMercyForTurkeys · 07/12/2010 14:04

I think Helen is trying to deflect suspicion

Unrulysun · 07/12/2010 14:15

I think the overwhelming message is that there are spies everywhere. Trust no-one.

Xmas Hmm
Blatherskite · 07/12/2010 14:52

Oooh, C'mon Helen, what was it?

Pwweeeeaaasse tell us :)

MissMashMissMash · 07/12/2010 15:26

Delia I also suspected this. But how would they have got this information unless they were part of Mumsnet HQ. Also she did look quite Mumsnetish. The man looking over her shoulder may have been a businessman looking for info for advertising. He did look quite businesslike.

OP posts:
Deliaskis · 07/12/2010 16:33

LOL at 'Mumsnetish'! What is that exactly?

I would have thought a website looking for advertisers would provide demographic data about their readership.

An advertiser doesn't have to look businesslike Wink.
