Why do old people go out so early in the morning in this weather???

I know I probably am being unreasonable but while waiting for the bus this morning at about 8am, there were about half a dozen people of at least 65 years old there too. It was freezing cold, about -10 degrees. Why would anyone be out at that time in this weather unless they absolutely had to?? Also spotted loads of 'em in cars, adding to the already busy roads.

Maybe they were trying to outrun the Grim Reaper?

there's the rub, op.

you spend the first half of your life wishing you had the opportunity to lie in. then the kids grow up and you haven't the ability to sleep past 7.

my 70 yr old mum is round here at 8 every day, gawd bless her.

My grandmother in the last years of her life would waken at 5 every morning so 8am was the middle of the day.

It really pissed her off as she said she'd waited her whole life to have a good sleep Grin

I'm looking forward to happily hopping out of bed at stupid o'clock. When does it start?? Xmas Confused

Even more irritating - dashing to the bank during my pitiful 20 min lunch break, huge line of old people who insist on withdrawing money from the teller because they 'don't trust the cash machines'.

(yes IABU and judgemental)

(and yes I will probably be just as irritating when I
am old)

I was wondering this exact same thing this morning at 10 to 7 when old codger neighbour was de-icing his car. He seems to do it regularly as, when I come out at my more normal time of 7:45, his car has nearly always been and come back from somewhere. No grandchildren/schoolruns or anything. My theory, being a sad old witch (according to DH), is that he's a carer for someone else so pops out 20 times a day to do stuff for them.

Maybe they want to fall and break their hips so they don't have to go to their kids for Christmas ...
