I find it very sad that Disney. Modern Inventor of childhood dreams and fantasy are stopping new films with princesses. Anyone else feel girls ( and boys) will be missing out. Childhood these days is already to fast. What's wrong with a bit of fantasy and make believe as a child. If they can't have it now when can they? Thoughts please?

I understood from an article I read that Disney had said that they will be thinking more about the titles of films - apparently their research showed that many families were put of by the title of The Princess and the Frog and didn't go, despite the vast bulk of the film being populated by frogs/animals.

Hence the Rapunzel film being titled 'Tangled'.

Actually the first non-white princess (although not in the classical sense) was Pocahontas, then Jasmine, and Tiana. There was also Mulan who, while not a princess was a strong Asian female character.

My daughter (3) loves the princesses, not so much the movies as the dolls, except for The Princess and the Frog which is the only one she's ever watched all the way through. My son (4) also loves that movie, when the music is on all he wants to do is dance around. He also loves Ray (the firefly) and Louis (the gator) in addition to Prince Naveen.

I don't care if they make more princess movies or not, I just want to see them continuing to do movies with Pixar. Although I have serious doubts that they'll be able to do anything that will top Toy Story 3.

What will complainining in card shops about non white princesses do? Hmm

I like the disney princess lot - although I also quite enjoy a barbie princess dvd too! :)

My daughter loves watching Barbie as well. She especially loves Fashion Fairytale and A Mermaid's Tale
