I am a sahd, happily married,2 kids and I am looking forward to cooking for eleven people on Christmas day

I am shocked to see so many unhappy people out there who hate there inlaws/OH.

Are happy people in the minority?

I am happy in general.

I have had some problems with my DD today - will prob start thread tomorrow - but they are not insurmountable.

I love my DH. And he is sexxxxxy. I love my DCs. We have no money worries.

The "in general" was added because I feel sad right at the moment reading about the MNer who is having her sleeping baby tonight. And I want to cry for her.

pagwatch · 05/12/2010 19:47

I am very happy . Life has it's ups and down but I am soooooooo lucky.
I am however occasionally annoyed with random shite.

I rarely visit mn to ponder my happiness but talk a lot about random shite.

Yup. I'm happy too. I try and treat folks how I like to be treated, and don't ever take having two lovely Dds, gorgeous Dh, nice house, good jobs and my health for granted. Our family all get along too so looking forward to a fun, busy but relaxed Christmas.

SantasMooningArse · 05/12/2010 19:51

I think the world would be better tbh if we all dropped striving for happy and made for content.

I am content: I am sad about a few things including the mumsnetter whose baby died, and my Grandad who has the flu at 90, but I content.

toddlerwrangler · 05/12/2010 19:55

I'm happyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

BitOfFun · 05/12/2010 19:57

Happy as fuck, me.

PatFig · 05/12/2010 19:59

I am not insanley happy.I do not walk down the street whistling and ruffling little childrens hair but I am content and being content with what you have got is as good as being happy

I've had a lot of upheaval in my life this year and it has been very stressful at times.

But yes overall I am happy Xmas Smile and I love Christmas!

When it all gets a bit much (as it has done this week), DH and I remind ourselves how lucky we are to be healthy, financially secure and to have our beautiful baby.

I have noticed a lot of sadness on here this week Sad

panettoinydog · 05/12/2010 20:10

Happy people are all alike. Unhappy people are unhappy in their own way.

You see?

Guacamohohohole · 05/12/2010 20:12

I'm very happy thank you very much.

I'm very happy and I will be having the inlaws for Christmas Day.Xmas Smile

Im sure we have all had our ups and downs in life and that is what makes us appreciate the happy times more.

MN is brill because it lets us all share our experiences and we can say to each other "Hang on in there, things can get better. You can be happy again"

Fibilou · 05/12/2010 21:16

i'm happy ! DH is 80% fab, ILs are great and DD is the most gorgeous baby ever born. We have a nice house for what we can afford, a nice car, we both like our jobs and have satisfying hobbies.

And I realise how lucky I am :)

Litchick · 05/12/2010 23:11

I'm the original Pollyanna.

I know it can get annoying but I am stupidly lucky and happy.

KatyMac · 05/12/2010 23:14

I am content

I see happy as a transitory emotion that is ephemeral and short lived, like anger or joy or fear or despair

Sadness, contentment are longer lasting and more solid

imo

Litchick · 05/12/2010 23:16

Ah Katy - that's interesting.

I would say that despite my inherent sunniness, I am not content. By which I mean I am always striving for my next goal.

However, that makes me happy.

tethersjinglebellend · 05/12/2010 23:19

I'm happy, and I'll deck anyone who says otherwise.

PureAsTheDrivenShow · 05/12/2010 23:24

I came on to say the same as Katy. I am happy a lot of the time but it's transient.

I am content though which I cherish above happiness. Doesn't mean I'm not ambitious, just that if the asteroid hit tomorrow, I could truly say I was happy with my lot.

Lovely husband, lovely daughter, lovely family, lovely home. Have no complaints me!

Xmas Grin
MollieO · 05/12/2010 23:38

I don't have OH or in laws therefore I must be happy. Xmas Hmm

greenbananas · 05/12/2010 23:44

"Happy" is about what happens. Even though I know I am lucky in the grand scheme of things, sometimes stuff gets on top of me... I'd like to think I can be cheerful whether or not I am happy - i.e. I agree with other posters who say they try to be content.
