AIBU?

Share your dilemmas and get honest opinions from other Mumsnetters.

to think mnhq should do away with all the hundreds of topics and categories that have evolved on the site over the past 10 years, and just have AIBU?

And re-brand the site as AmIBeingUnreasonableNet?

Because it seems people want to post about anything in AIBU in order to get lots of replies.

How pathetic!

But AIBU is a mish mash of all the topics, with some weirdy ones thrown in for good measure.

You're not a pedant/authoritarian/jobsworth type are you namey...?? Grin

scottishmummy · 04/12/2010 23:06

or just deluded and bossy

Iwasthefourthwiseman · 04/12/2010 23:07

'The posters who replied were lovely, but I think it only got a handful of replies, and it feels like I wasted my opportunity.'

it's like yahtzee Grin

AgentZigzag · 04/12/2010 23:07

If anyone was really bothered about it, all the ones you say don't fit wouldn't get replies.

I think it's great that a bunfight can develop in the most unlikely of subjects.

Unpredictability, I like that.

nameymcnamechange · 04/12/2010 23:09

OK, so you obviously wouldn't mind if Mumsnet were to become Aibunet then sm.

However, there are lots of posters who loathe AIBU and keep it permanently hidden. AIBU is seen (for whatever reason) as the place where the gloves are off and pretty much anything goes.

I think AIBU has a place on Mumsnet. But I don't think it should define Mumsnet or represent Mumsnet.

no dont associate me with your ramblings.like the random eclectic nature.dont need it all to be ordered and proper

AgentZigzag · 04/12/2010 23:12

'But I don't think it should define Mumsnet or represent Mumsnet.'

I bloody do, chock a block fully of feisty, a bit angry, totally up front individuals ready to challenge everything you say, what more do you want namey??

scottishmummy · 04/12/2010 23:14

this is a do as i say op.everyone follow op,baa baa baaaaa

nameymcnamechange · 04/12/2010 23:15

I want people to use their fucking brains, tis all.

OP posts:
AgentZigzag · 04/12/2010 23:18

...and make their way, in an orderly fashion without talking, to their designated subject area...

What if the poster doesn't have a brain namey? I've seen plenty on here that haven't.

scottishmummy · 04/12/2010 23:18

you want people to do as you tell them.to post to your exacting specifications given you have tried to define proper mn usage

newwave · 04/12/2010 23:19

I love it, I have been castigated a few times for my posts but who gives a fuck. Ask a question and dont complain when you get a metaphorical slap round the face just slap back

scottishmummy · 04/12/2010 23:21

go hang in pedants cave, they love rules and opining about how no one cares sweet fa for rules

or moldies and gimmers they love bumping gums about mn of yore and not as good as old days

nice ham anyone?
search archives we did that already

nameymcnamechange · 04/12/2010 23:25

If you think it is too exacting to seek out the most relevent topic on Mumsnet for a question on dandruff then mebbe you aren't intellectually robust enough for this site and would be better off at Netmums hen.

OP posts:
newwave · 04/12/2010 23:26

Fight fight fight :o

scottishmummy · 04/12/2010 23:27

i think you should stop telling others how to post on mn

scottishmummy · 04/12/2010 23:32

people post eclectically, randomly as they wish.thats what makes it so v interesting.there is no need to stifle that spontaneity
