My turn to host the dinner party next Saturday.

My mate and I were putting together a music file about six hours long on the PC, we do this so as not to have to change CD's.

As I am mostly into rock this was predominant, there was Bowie & Ferry?Roxy, the Jam, Stones and a lot of punk. I was adding some Green Day and Yeah yeah yeah's and my mate made a comment about nicking my sons music and it being appropriate for a dinner party with eight guests between 44 and about 54.

As I had a comment about wearing Converse at 50 a while ago I was a bit put out by this. My motto is 18 till I die :o

My dinner party, my music but AIBU

I know a fair few people in that age bracket who'd love your taste in music! I find that comment rather patronising. What should they be listening to: Engelbert Humperdinck?!

Meglet · 04/12/2010 20:23

Better rock music than James Blunt / Coldplay / whatever else grown ups listen to.

FakePlasticTrees · 04/12/2010 20:26

You'll be wanting this

borderslass · 04/12/2010 20:26

don't see anything wrong with your music.

It was the yeah yeah yeahs and Green Day the comment was aimed at not the early stuff, I also added Pendulum, Faithless and The Enemy.

Swim, It will be home made vegetable soup, followed by Lamb shanks plus veg, lemon tart, cheese and biscuits FOLLOWED by a big (good natured) row about politics plus a lot of drunk people who should know better but never learn :o

If that suits you your welcome.

Lunatic, you may well be right, I however tend to learn about new bands from XFM, MTV rocks and Kerrang.

I do a few festivals and go to see a lot of old and new bands.

Good job it's dark at most venues. :)

YANBU - sounds like our dinner partakes.

Good timed. Xmas Grin

AgentZigzag · 04/12/2010 21:11

It's not as though you're going to have it blaring away so everyone has to shout to be heard, unless you're one of 'those' kind of hosts? Bear anyone?

It's good to have some background music, and yours isn't too bad Grin

Isn't it called keeping up to date!

pingpongmerrilyonhigh · 04/12/2010 21:20

I see no problem with the music at all

Add in some Lacuna Coil and Biffy Clyro and it would be perfect

AVeryMerryPersonalClown · 04/12/2010 21:23

Make a spare seat! I want to come to your dinner party! Xmas Grin

newwave · 04/12/2010 22:05

Ping, I have seen Biffy live on two occasions they were awesome.

All are welcome although I have room for 10 only at the dinning table and only 4 bedrooms so some will have to kip on the sofa/floor, we have sleeping bags and buckets in case you drink to much :o
