I am sure this link must have been posted before (& I hasten to add that I am not a Daily Mail reader and couldn't even read this to the end, I was so irritated by the writer), but how bloody stupid are some people?

Anyone with half an ounce of intelligence knew boom times wouldn't go on for ever. Why then, would someone with an income of £1200 a week not be investing part of that.

I know lots of hard working families are suffering from current difficult times, but I think it will be interesting to see what other lightweight, air-headed fluffs see their lives crumble like this stupid woman.

Even if you have no Christmas decorations (who exactly wouldn't just re-use the same stuff every year?) then Poundland is crammed full of stuff. Failing that, make your own - popcorn threaded onto cotton, spray paint pine cones, paper garlands etc.

TheCrackFox · 04/12/2010 20:34

I am sure your local community wouldn't want you to bankrupt yourself. There is a huge recession and lots of people are cutting back, there is no shame in it.

fulltimeworkingmum · 04/12/2010 20:37

Goodness - some of you are a bit bitter and jealous. I agree that her story seems a bit obscene in these austere times but everthing is relative. You do not miss what you have never had.

freerangeeggs · 04/12/2010 20:37

If she can't afford to buy her daughter a life-size violin then maybe she should just give her the tiny one I can hear playing as I read this article

I'm not jealous at all fulltimeworkingmum - I just think overstretching yourself and then whining about it when it all goes tits up is a bit pathetic.

Georgimama · 04/12/2010 20:40

Jealous? I think we need to ban "you're jealous" as a debating tool. No one is jealous of this dozy woman, I assure you.

TheCrackFox · 04/12/2010 20:43

I will never be jealous of someone who is silly enough to spend £50 on ribbons.

CerealOffender · 04/12/2010 20:44

silly bitch

Menagerie · 04/12/2010 20:49

I feel sorry for her. I feel genuinely sorry for her to have wound up being such a vacuous adult that even now these luxuries are gone from her life, she can't see how valueless they were in the first place. And she's such an incompetent mother that she feels guilty at not providing an i-Pad instead of feeling glad of the chance to teach her kids the value of money along with some other even more important values about family and happiness.

Ooh - judgey! Quite enjoyed that.

BonniePrinceBilly · 04/12/2010 20:50

I miss what I've never had, though I'm really not jealous. Who would want to be her. Ewwwwwwwww!

KathyImLost · 04/12/2010 20:52

I think you're all missing the point:

You can get toblerones at the pound shop?!

See, I always thought the Daily Fail wasn't good enough to line the cat litter tray with, but I've learnt something today.

newwave · 04/12/2010 20:54

It's the lack of forsight I cannot understand, we have a joint income of around £82k but have saved bundles and paid off our mortgage in 14 years so we dont end up in this position.

I detect a "poor me" sense of entitlement.

fulltimeworkingmum · 04/12/2010 21:02

Totally agree newwwave - save and pay off what you owe and still have some to spare. I paid in cash for everything I own and do not owe a penny to anyone except the mortgage.

TheCrackFox · 04/12/2010 21:07

TBF she does have a £1.5 million house that she has paid off. Envy Why doesn't she just sell it and go back to buying £50 ribbon? Confused

MsKalo · 04/12/2010 21:16

In the daily mails defence I don't think the article was meant to portray her in a positive light...

The woman is a tosser pure and simple. What a twat - so many people out there are Losing their homes and struggling to eat and she writes shit like that!

lalalonglegs · 04/12/2010 22:19

I've read the article three times now, my eyes hurt but I can't see the bit about her mortgages, can someone direct me?

Mowiol · 04/12/2010 22:45

I really want to know what the "expectations" of the local community are where Notrealname lives.
Is she/he the local squire who is supposed to distribute largesse or something.

I'm really nosey, me!
