not sure if this is the right place

...but would you say that £30,000 a year between 2 people is a good disposable income? I say "between 2" as I don't have a DH or children - also why I'm not sure if this is the right place but you can always count on MN for honest opinions - it's me and my sister that this is about (we live together). Basically the amount left after "essentials" like bills, food etc. (but not including going out to eat ie restaurants), in London.

that's fair enough kla.

£30k disposable is a shitload of money - there you go :)

klapaucius · 03/12/2010 14:55

sorry grimma i meant friends that we see almost everyday, the fun kind who like to casually mention that they're paying just over £2000 a week in rent and do we fancy zuma for dinner?

What was your point though? That your friends are all so rich that you can't work out if £1.5k a month pin money is a lot or not? Hmm X a million.....

hairyfairylights · 03/12/2010 16:24

£30 k left after bills and essentials is a blooming amazing amount!

spikeycow · 03/12/2010 16:25

I think I hate you. Lend me a tenner

mumbar · 03/12/2010 16:33

Wow, I don't even get 2/3 of that a year to pay everything with.

You need new friends - I'm available Xmas Wink

Ineedtinsel · 03/12/2010 16:39

Me, Dp and 2 kids live on less than that. He works full time and I work partime!!Xmas Hmm.

Trubert · 03/12/2010 16:47

I don't think this is the right website for this question. Isn't there a website out there for obscenely rich people who live in London and have no idea how the rest of the country operates?

seeing as some families don't have £30k before essentials then i would say that your doing pretty well.

I think your sister needs to spend a little time with people who aren't millionairs for a while.
get her back in touch with reality.

GMajor7SwansASwimming · 03/12/2010 16:53

klapaucius is surely on a wind-up. Only a fool would have any doubt that 30K disposable income is anything less than a fucking fortune. My button will not be pressed!

GMajor7SwansASwimming · 03/12/2010 16:57

OK, so my button HAS been pressed Grin

As for 'not sure if this is the right place', I reckon the OP damn well knows it's the right place!

sleepingin · 03/12/2010 17:18

Mmm, friends who casually talk about how much they pay in rent. Time for new friends, OP? They sound like very dull conversationalists.

sleepingin · 03/12/2010 17:20

Oh. And come on, surely you're not stupid enough to think that even if your circle of friends are like that they are the exception to the rule...!?

sleepingin · 03/12/2010 17:23

not the exception to the rule. I am so baffled by this I can't construct sentences!
