in thinking a 'check up scan' shouldnt be done in the same area as women having miscarriages, ectopics etc?

i had to have a scan today to check position of baby#5. apart from this, i have had an uncomplicated pregnancy.

However, I was very aware of through the doors is the ward for women whose pregnancies arent going so well. They are also scanned in the same area :(

My previous scans inc dating and anaolomy scans have been done in a different maternity unit. Obviously there will be cases down there when news isnt good for some. but to scan someone with no major issues in the same area as women losing their babies seem insensitive and wrong.

why is this happening?

really felt for the women going past me with my bump :(

Had similar expwerince to Mothermountain goat unable to have children and alongside teenage girls having terminations discussing them and their blessed release from impending motherhood. It really shouldn't happen.

My epu is in the basement of my local hospital (near the mortuary) Sad, so no danger of running into many happy pg women/couples,however,the attitudes of staff definately make a difference. I have had 2 mmc and on both occasions the epu staff were completely indifferent.
Even if you have been fortunate enough never to go through babyloss surely common sense would make someone sympathetic to anyone going through such a horrific experience.

A kindly pat on the arm, or even a 'sorry' wouldn't have changed the news for me, but it might have made me feel slightly better. All I got was a booklet on what to expect when miscarrying naturally (neither of my mc were the 'heavy, uncomfortable-period type pain-they were like a mini labour with the appearance of my babies' fetuses, none of which is mentioned in the booklet). I had no follow up check either time.
Am currently ttc again, and am determined to stay away from the epu if I possibly can if I do manage to get pg again. Vile places in my experience.Sad
