disgusting service by Tesco grocery delivery

Mum is incapacitated, lives alone in Kent. I do all her grocery shopping online with Tesco. Placed order on monday, first delivery slot I could get was Wednesday. Wednesday the snow came but Tesco didn't. Mum waited today and by lunchtime I said I would look online to see what had happened to it. The website told me the order had been delivered. I called them, they apologised it hadn't been delivered and told me all the orders in the area had been cancelled due to the weather.

BUT THEY HADN'T NOTIFIED US THEY HAD CANCELLED THE ORDER!!!!!!

They then inform me that people had now taken up the slots for delivery and they could not deliver until wed 8th december and I have to go back online and reorder all the stuff. They were sorry about that, but nothing they can do..Oh they did say they could book it for me then on the phone if I wanted to but no delivery slots until 8th december.

What kind of fucking service is that?

Tesco helpfully cancelled my food order 8 days ago when we had about 4 inches of snow. Still no food (just crap I can get from petrol forcourt) we are now talking in feet and I have managed to get myself to work everyday. Not acceptable! X

HecTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly - your right. We did have local shops we could walk to selling local products. With all the complaints on here, I think Tesco customer service does suck. They are too damn big for their own boots, too big to pick up the phone.

On the news I heard a concervative minister banging on about all the grit and salt they have in stock, well where the hell is it then? Angry

SantasMooningArse · 03/12/2010 18:45

We did indeed have local shops (well we do now but almost all artisan over priced shite, £2 a small loaf anyone, and the bakers ran out of flour last time)

There were also social services funded shoppers who sorted food oreders for those who were housebound, now SSD just say get a relative to do it online.

Sugarmuppet · 03/12/2010 18:56

No Laurie his job is classed as job and finish. Sad He phoned about 20 mins ago to say he is on the way home thank goodness and he doesn't start till 4am tomorrow to do it all again! Think about the guy trying to deliver your food stuff and how difficult it is for them.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 03/12/2010 19:05

that's true Soup - but I never said it would - and neither will snow tryes on the Ocado vans get the Ocado drivers to work either (which is why i posted about the sledges in the first place) Smile

Practically every school in Kent is closed because teachers can't get to work, why would Tesco delivery drivers be able to get in to work if no-one else can?

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 03/12/2010 19:15

Kent here too. I had a Sainsbo's delivery booked for Tues pm, called them in the morning when there was still a chance I could drive to the nearest supermarket, they said if my order was going to be cancelled they would call me shortly. By mid afternoon we were snowbound, and then they called to say they weren't coming. Xmas Angry

I have rebooked it for Sat evening but fully expect it to be cancelled again.

Incidentally, my best mate lives a few miles up the road in a much more inaccessible place and Tesco always make it to her, this week and in Jan when it last snowed heavily. Xmas Hmm

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 03/12/2010 19:24

LOL my freezer is being cleared out just in time for a Chrsitmas restocking

Tonight we had a smoked gammon joint ( best before 10 Feb 10 ), the last of the jacket wedges and some frozen peas. I made a ham and lentil soup with a few bendy veg, the gammon water and err some lentils. Plus a few sage leaves I unearthed from 20ft of snow.

We will have the soup tomorrow with the bread I made a few days ago and froze as we have no bread. Never made bread before - had bread flour in as I make pizzas. Its not bad! Xmas Grin

Thanks to Sainsbo's I am finding my inner Allegra McEvedy.

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 03/12/2010 19:26

err thats 2 ft of snow, not 20.....that would be exaggerating

ScaredOfCows · 03/12/2010 22:44

Well! Fucking Sainsbury's delivery hasn't arrived tonight. Phoned them to be told that there aren't any drivers out now, so my delivery won't be arriving. But they will give me a call tomorrow sometime. Is it really so difficult to pick the phone up at a sensible time to tell someone that their delivery has been cancelled - well, yes apparently! Nobbers!

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 04/12/2010 13:45

Well Sainsbo's have cancelled on me for the second time this week, despite melting snow all around. Xmas Hmm

So on the strength of this thread I have rebooked with Ocado for silly o'clock on Tuesday.

HecTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 04/12/2010 14:05

To balance it a bit - my tesco delivery came - yesterday? - lost track of time Blush

They couldn't get near our house, so they parked on the main road and carried my shopping to the house from there.

I was very happy. Invited them in for a cup of tea, but they said no thanks because they had loads of deliveries left to do.

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 04/12/2010 14:07

I hate Sainsbury's now. Xmas Angry

hmmm... I recently tried Pocketshop (www.pocketshop.com). They are a startup that does same day grocery delivery from sainsburys, but they are quite effective. They have 1, 2 and 3 hour slots, although its hard to see the 1 hour slot available.. I think they need to be in your neighbourhood at the time to see that one available. They also replaced some of the items sainsburys didn't have without charging me extra so I got really happy because I would have made exactly the same choices.
I don't think they are available in Kent, but I am sure they are London wide. Anyone knows anything similar for pharmacies?

ahaha sorry for that, new around, just trying to help! :)

Whothefuckfarted · 16/07/2013 18:02

Lol

digerd · 16/07/2013 18:06

I ordered today earlier in the afternoon and unusually tomorrow morning is vacant, even the 8-9am.

waikikamookau · 16/07/2013 18:14

bit hot here for snow, but thanks

HampsteadAnna · 23/07/2013 12:29

digerd, did you like the pocketshop service? I had a great experience, used it again this week because I was working from home and couldn't afford to leave.. I wish they were even faster.. like 30 min delivery, but I guess you can't be that picky when you are paying 5 pound per delivery in 1 hour..
