It's not even December ffs.

They seem to be on all the time too and will be until into the NewYear; if last year is anything to go by.

can you see them from in the house? If not i don't see the problem

coccyx · 28/11/2010 20:43

oooo barhumbug

schroeder · 28/11/2010 20:45

Yes I can see em, that's the point they light up the kitchen! They probably can't even see them from their windowConfused

Have you got an air gun? Grin

kitbit · 28/11/2010 20:48

Does it disturb you when you sleep? Or shine brightly in your living room while you're in there? Can you put something in between it and the door to block it out?

ShanahansRevenge · 28/11/2010 20:49

Oooh it's not me is it? Blush I put some round our porch today! I know it's not December yet...but the DC are going mad for the tree already...s it's a nod in the direction of the approaching festivities.

Also..they look nice in the winter!

I used to live in a 3rd floor flat on a main street in London and one morning I was woken up by workmen putting HUGE light up robin on my wall next to my window! It was part of the street lights and it flashed red and green for a month!

I liked it! Twas like being in a movie.

welshbyrd · 28/11/2010 20:49

no need for you to switch your lights on, if needed in kitchen, think of electricity bill you will be saving, ask them to keep them up all year, more pennies saved Smile

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 28/11/2010 20:50

4 feet? Can you streeeetch over and unscrew them enough that they go out? Either that, or give the kids a pile of pebbles and offer them £1 for each one that they smash

nancy75 · 28/11/2010 20:51

surely you put the light on when you go in the kitchen at night?

welshbyrd · 28/11/2010 20:55

Loving Shanahans festive spirit.

I, too am a sucker for christmas lights, and ridiculous santas singing and dancing, while doing something funny like scratching his bum Smile

blackeyedsusan · 28/11/2010 20:56

Maisie Grin

I was thinking of loosening a bulb. would they all go out?

1percentawake · 28/11/2010 21:08

At least you know they'll be taken down in the new year - unlike my neighbour's flippin security light shining right into my back windows Angry

Just get some of your own and shine them into their windows!

ilovehens · 28/11/2010 21:10

Paint the bulbs with some blackout paint!

ChippingIn · 28/11/2010 21:10

What's the actual problem with them being there?

GypsyMoth · 28/11/2010 21:13

Red and green Robin!??!?!

thefirstMrsDeVere · 28/11/2010 21:14

Are they those ultra bright LED ones? I love twinkly fairy lights and have them up at the slightest excuse.

But I have noticed over the years that there are loads of those bright blue ones that burn your eyeballs if you look directly at them

If this is the case - nark away love. Smile

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 28/11/2010 21:36

Why would anyone think it's OK to put up really bright lights 4 feet away from someone else's window? Shock

I'm not sure if they would all go out if you unscrewed one - electrical circuits are one big mystery to me - but you could try and see! Wink

ShanahansRevenge · 28/11/2010 21:45

Lol....the robin wasn't red and green...it had holly it was sitting on. Either way it flashed red and green all night. It wasnt mant to flash....but it did. That's Hackney council for ya!

ShanahansRevenge · 28/11/2010 21:46

Mine are not the awful blue type...which need to be banned or redesigned! Mine are normal ones.

curlymama · 28/11/2010 21:48

Don't you have the curtains closed when it's dark enough for the lights to be on anyway?

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 28/11/2010 22:10

Curtains should be a choice, not a necessity because your neighbours are shining lights into your windows!

schroeder · 28/11/2010 22:15

It's the little sunray window above my back door; so no curtains.

I know it's not the worst thing in the world, but it is annoying.

OP posts:
ChippingIn · 28/11/2010 23:08

Why is it annoying?

onmyfeet · 28/11/2010 23:11

Bah humbug!

Wink
Goblinchild · 29/11/2010 05:55

Ask them to move3 the lights and tell them why.
