So DH went shopping for 'thermal underwear' yesterday. Fair enough thinks I, it's bloomin' cold.

However, instead of coming home looking like this he has bought a 3 pack of <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=britwear.co.uk/new/images/products/MT118_Mens%2520Thermal%2520Underwear%2520Sleeveless%2520Vest.jpg&imgrefurl=britwear.co.uk/new/live/products/2_Thermal%2520Underwear/2_Thermal%2520Underwear.php5%3Fsubcat%3D5&usg=__MNBHFZ5Q4Ad3m2k0wnh21EsQVpQ=&h=338&w=300&sz=11&hl=en&start=26&zoom=1&tbnid=wWawUEpIyVnzJM:&tbnh=138&tbnw=119&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dthermal%2Bunderwear%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26cr%3DcountryUK%257CcountryGB%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1436%26bih%3D780%26tbs%3Disch:1,ctr:countryUK%257CcountryGB0%2C628&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=456&vpy=239&dur=2713&hovh=238&hovw=211&tx=116&ty=134&ei=j2HyTMvBIced4Qaj-JnIAQ&oei=imHyTJeOEMG1hAex7ICqCg&esq=2&page=2&ndsp=36&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:26&biw=1436&bih=780" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">these Shock

AIBU: surely these 'old man' vests?? It's not thermals I object to, just being married to Albert Steptoe.

So we will abide by MN jury decision - should he put them away for 25 years, or should I accept I am married to an old man?

Can you get him to buy some of [[http://www.natureshop.co.nz/Catalog/Clothing/mens-wool-underwear.asp these]?

DH is considering it because he has to stand in the cold at the station and then walk to work.

but he is balking at shelling out 50? for a vest.

I recently bought some lovely silk/merino vests from Cambridge baby for my DSs and they are so warm all the time that I am tempted to get one for myself!

jamaisjedors · 28/11/2010 16:53

Sorry s-wool-underwear.asp these

jamaisjedors · 28/11/2010 16:55

GAHHHHH these

scaryjane · 28/11/2010 17:44

they look very nice but DH is pleased about only spending £7 on 3 at asda . . .can't see it somehow :(

My husband wears vests like that even in summer

asbolutelyfabulous · 28/11/2010 18:32

Hilarious link scaryjane. Wish my DH would wear some thermals, he'll go out in a cardigan in the middle of a blizzard, bleating 'I'm Central European, I don't feel the cold!'

And inevitably come back sporting a bluish hue saying 'maybe I should've put on a jacket or something.'

I'd love him to wear thermals!

canyou · 28/11/2010 18:41

The t shirt type are not thermal though they are just plain cotton so the 'old man style' would be better if it is to stay warm as they are thermal
PS my pd wears long johns and long sleeved thermal t shirts Shock not a good look

narkypuffin · 28/11/2010 21:09

These are Asda and not as bad. Also 3 for £7

scaryjane · 28/11/2010 21:14

They're ok aren't they? However, he passed them over apparently because they are £7 EACH Shock

OP posts:
narkypuffin · 28/11/2010 21:16

Sorry they are £7. Why do men get like this about some stuff and then get precious about which toilet roll to buy.

narkypuffin · 28/11/2010 21:18

You could tell him warm shoulders cost extra Grin

scaryjane · 28/11/2010 21:20

DH wears long johns when it snows, as he works outside and would literally freeze his balls off if he didn't Grin

I did object to white ones though, he has grey or navy ones.

blackeyedsusan · 13/10/2011 14:48

white is yuk. he needs proper mens thermal base layer from one outdoor type shop or another.
