I really, really know that christmas is a difficult time...
I have Out laws that i cannot stand...
But....
If your Pils are ok, then let them have a bit of time with your children at Christmas.
It's only one special day a year.....they love your partner,he is their son, they could learn to love you too....
But they do love their Grandchildren.
Don't forget that you may one day be the,
MIL FROM HELL

When either my son or daughter has kids I think I'll be happy to see them and any kids at xmas if they want or at some other time if they have other plans.
I will be happy to send their sprogs gifts they can open on xmas day without me demanding to watch them open them, and am happy to pretend they are from santa if that's what they wish.
If not with my kids then I'm sure bloke and I will have a lovely time together drinking champagne, listening to classic fm carols and going for walks in the snow or heading to Crieff hydro for xmas if we're not broke.
Some people just get far too worked up about it all. If I have a good relationship with my kids then I don't think not seeing them on xmas day because they have other plans is going to bother me.
I'm sure I'll see them some Christmases.

I will be similar 2 rebecca-I certainly won't expect them to be travelling across the country for Christmas if they don't want to.I won't need to watch them open presents. My only difference is that my presents will be from me and I will tell the DCs (if DIL has such a stupid arrangement-DSs certainly wouldn't-that Santa asked if he could deliver but I told him that I preferred to send presents from me)

Won't be seeing our Outlaws at Christmas this year. Tried with FIL last year and it was a disaster ...MIL never bothers anyway, always goes to her friends fo Christmas and New Year. We will have all my family here though.
