GabbyLoggon · 26/11/2010 15:34

Tried out in BURNLEY (Lancs) And spread all over the country next year...

Most of Us on Mumsnet are theorists..there must be a lot of people in Burnley who have experienced the system

I gather the press are onto it, and Ministers say the scheme is being "modifified." I susprct it is.

OP posts:

Invalidity? Is that incapacity benefit? So if you are on incapacity benefit you go for an interview to see if there is anything you can do?

Fair enough. If it's handled properly.

2shoes · 26/11/2010 15:37

wtf are you talking about now??

theevildead2 · 26/11/2010 15:38

Exactly the same as before I think 2shoes

HecateQueenOfWitches · 26/11/2010 15:38

Oh, meant to ask - what is it you are asking if you are being unreasonable about. Not clear from your OP what your question is.

2shoes · 26/11/2010 15:39

my teenager makes more sense when he has just woken up

theevildead2 · 26/11/2010 15:39

I only clicked on it as I assumed it must be someone else had started a thread- hopefully a coherent one

lilyliz · 26/11/2010 16:40

yabu I have 2 SIL both on invalidity with nothing wrong with them,if it stops the like of these two spongers I will be quite happy.Only ones complaining are the people on it who know they will be booted off.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 26/11/2010 17:06

lily - what on earth was the OPs AIBU question? I can't figure it out at all!

2shoes · 26/11/2010 17:51

i doubt if even the op knows what her question was/is

NeverEatYellowTaintedSnow · 26/11/2010 17:54

Very confused. What's the question Gabby? Or are we supposed to guess?

poppyknot · 26/11/2010 18:01

What about Aberdeen?

Are the capitals part of a secret code maybe?

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 26/11/2010 18:02

I'm confused

a) by what the OP is asking

b) by the being "being tried" - people applying for ESA already have to attend an interview - where many are turned down initially - and then on appeal given it because they realise the person doing the initial interview f*cked up.

Kaloki · 26/11/2010 18:04

lilylilz Ah to live in your nice easy little world.. Hmm

I think Gabby has been secretly trying to brainwash us, maybe somewhere in the messages is a message which is at a level which the conscious cannot comprehend but the subconscious can?

HecateQueenOfWitches · 26/11/2010 18:06

Come to think of it, I do have the sudden urge to post my sort code and account number...

2shoes · 26/11/2010 18:07

this thread makes me want to post the C word and I never post that word

Kaloki · 26/11/2010 18:08

Baroqin I assume that the OP is actually referring to the fact that they want to roll out a new test (even harder to "pass" than the last one). So even more people appealing against it - but that's ok as far as the govt care because then they can report that a higher percentage of claims have been rejected. Never mind that figures after the appeals wont back that up, and the fact that some more vulnerable people (eg. mental health/learning difficulties) will have been to scared to appeal.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 26/11/2010 18:10

oh I see Kaloki it's a new test

God help us all.

Kaloki · 26/11/2010 18:11

Yeah, haven't heard too much about it tbh, but then I'm going with the head in sand approach right now, things are quite hard enough without worrying about that too.

mamatomany · 26/11/2010 18:13

I would ask the person conducting the interview their medical qualifications and credentials before taking part.

The interview should go no further on that basis.

wannaBe · 26/11/2010 18:13

didn't clock that the thread was in ibu but I think it's fair enough.

Having incapasity re-assessed shouldn't necessarily mean that people on it are scroungers, but there must surely be people who have been able to claim this benefit at one point and whose health has now improved to a degree they would be capable of some work. To put people on incapasity for life regardless of the circumstance that brought them there is ridiculous.

There are millions of people on incapasity benefit, you cannot tell me that we have such a high level of people in this country who are incapable of any work.

I know of several people with VI who are on incapasity, and who have been able to get it due to an ignorant sympathetic gp believing they were incapable of work which is frankly bullshit.

The sooner we get out of this mindset that disability equals incapable on all levels the better for all concerned..

classydiva · 26/11/2010 18:14

those on benefits for being unwell already experience medicals.

I am totally physically able, however depression, phobias does not discriminate. I can lift bricks am I fit to work though?

Mentally - NO.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 26/11/2010 18:17

ESA is rarely awarded for life (usually if it's going to be permanent the person can apply for DLA........which is even harder to get)

There are 2 levels of ESA, both are reassessed over time already. The lower level already looks towards helping you find work.

classydiva · 26/11/2010 18:17

I refuse to see anyone who is not qualified, they sent me once, never again.

2shoes · 26/11/2010 18:19

I ma wondering what will happen with DLA as I heard that there will be a assessment type thing with that.
so will dd be seen by a person who has never met her or will they just accept the word of her doctor who has worked with her for years (not her GP , but not sure if the doctor is a pead)

classydiva · 26/11/2010 18:20

DLA assess your health on the assessment of the medical person you see at your yearly medical for ESA.

If you pass the ESA medical you can get DLA.
