which are in no way Christmassy at all and make the town look like it is hosting some emergency services convention, not celebrating Christmas?

Oh I heartily agree!

Christmas things should be red and green or silver and gold NOT BLUE

Deliaskis · 26/11/2010 12:49

I agree, I hate blue lights with a passion, the colour of the emergency services and fly killing devices in kitchens.

D

PerpetuallyAnnoyedByHeadlice · 26/11/2010 12:50

LOL at fly killing devices!

santasbluebaubles · 26/11/2010 12:53

Agree wholeheartedly. I had a friend telling me all about her Christmas tree colour scheme for this year - turqoise and purple. That's not f**ing christmassy!!!!

AgentZigzag · 26/11/2010 12:56

I really like them Grin

Red/green/silver are warm colours, but blue is icy cold like a frosty morning.

seeker · 26/11/2010 12:57

Is it possible that they are actually Jewish people celebrating Hannukah?

Not if it's a Christmas tree or a blue neon baby Jesus, obviously, but the fairy lights in a window might be......

TheLogLady · 26/11/2010 13:09

nop seeker. the entire town theme is neon fly -illing neee-naw blue and i hate it.

it is cold and hard, not all log-firy toasty, celebratory, red and greenish.

I saw some purple and black Christmas decorations in Homebase recently

AgentZigzag · 26/11/2010 13:18

When I sold Christmas decs on ebay a couple of years ago, it was the pink tinsel that people really couldn't get enough of, as soon as it was listed it sold.

Could the purple and black just be halloween tinsel Sidge?

Haven you seen John Lewises 'alternative' tree this year?

It is black and hangs upside don from the ceiling. I roared with laughter.

I'm a bit fussy about my tree and decorations, always a real one with white non twinkly lights and a mishmash of decorations collected/ made over the years, but all very very 'christmassy' in style and colour. Loath anything 'trendy'

emmie31 · 26/11/2010 14:03

Multi coloured lights all the way in our house!!! I buy a ball ball every year so our tree is not all one colour I although have home made decs my son made hanging up. I so much prefer that than a colour coded tree..

piscesmoon · 26/11/2010 14:07

I hate them-nothing is better than plain white (non flashing)

AlicesWonderland · 26/11/2010 14:10

I've purple black and gold decs on a black tree with bright white lights tis very festive Grin

I don't like the blue lights either though if you look directly at them they hurt your eyes!

Itsjustafleshwound · 26/11/2010 14:11

Your town has Christmas lights - how flush are they!!! I haven't seen as much as a festive bauble or light in our town and last year the shops all had to rally around to pay for the lights.

Can't bear modern blue lighting .. yuck!

SuePurblybiltByElves · 26/11/2010 14:11

Hate them. Also hate black trees or pink trees.
emmie, I like "ball ball" Grin. May borrow that.

Sidge · 26/11/2010 14:12

Agent no I'm sure it was Christmas rather than Halloween as there was tinsel, baubles, stars, the whole shebang. Just in purple and black rather than PROPER red green and gold Grin

And as for upside down trees and the like, well.....

CheekyLittleSox · 26/11/2010 14:25

I have some blue neon lights on my tree but i got them by mistake and couldnt be arsed to take them back to tescos. i wanted to whiter neon lights. But also have multi coloured lights on my tree aswell as the blue is crap and not bright at all.

TheLogLady · 26/11/2010 14:27

yes. at least we have decs. i shouldn't criticise as they have tried so hard, raise funds all year etc but i'd like to find who chose the colour scheme and have words.

i like birds on my tree. and home made ball balls.

no, I agree - last year, a house had loads of blue lights all over it, and it looked horribly cold and uninvting.

urgh.
Confused

my shop lights are the normal white ones, which look lovely in the dark, cos they havea yellow hue to them, but I want some coloured ones now.

GMajor7 · 26/11/2010 14:28

YANBU. HAS to be greens, reds, golds and silvers to be truly Christmassy!

The town where I live has plain clear fairies all over the trees, which looks just beautiful.

I love, love, love fairy lights!!

cakewench · 26/11/2010 14:30

I love blue lights. I think we actually have some. Grin

Mind you, it's a bit strange, and if I were decide all over again I might have gone a bit more traditional. I like our blue/silver/white tree, though.
