To think refering to a child as a 'little bitch' is not on?

This is what my neighbour called MY 14mo dd this morning.

I told her dd had been up a lot in the night and she said "ah is she being a little bitch?"

I swear my jaw must have hit the floor I was so stunned, who talks about a child like that!?

YANBU. I have heard it before though.

Unrulysun · 26/11/2010 10:28

Yeuch. :(

memoo · 26/11/2010 10:30

How can people speak in such a vile way about a baby? I am actually quite cross, I am not a violent person but I may make an exception

YANBU. My previous neighbour referred to her 2 year old as 'a fucking bitch' and 'vile' right infront of her. Disgusting.

Chathappy · 26/11/2010 10:32

Yanbu!

memoo · 26/11/2010 10:33

Wildsheep, that awful, what is wrong with some people

Call your mate a cunt when the kids are out of earshot.

Onetoomanycornettos · 26/11/2010 10:33

Oh dear, no chance of moving then?!!!!!

Bumpsadaisie · 26/11/2010 10:41

This is foul.

I'm normally quite easy going and non confrontational with everyone (except DH!) but if someone said this about my 14mth old I would have had words.

Of course she probably meant it in a sort of affectionate jokey way but I would still have said "I know you are just having a laugh but please never refer to my DD as a bitch again its horrid".

memoo · 26/11/2010 10:42

Grin Jodie, and btw she is definately not my mate!

CocoPopsAddict · 26/11/2010 10:43

I think I would have smiled sweetly and said pointedly 'No, she isn't, she's only 14 months'.

memoo · 26/11/2010 10:44

She did say it in a light, jokey way. I actually couldn't say anything to her I was speechless, just walked into my house and shut the door.

JodiesMummy · 26/11/2010 10:44

Seriously, I would laugh and say "yeah she is a bit tetchy today, are you a cunt every day?". In an offhand breezy way, and see how she likes it.

Frazzledmumwithsmudgedmascara · 26/11/2010 10:47

I wouldn't have liked it either; I saw on a thread on here recently someone referred to a 5 year old as a little bitch. Not nice

memoo · 26/11/2010 10:47

Ha Jodie how I wish i was that brave, that would be fab!

Frazzled, I love you name, you could be me

strawberrycake · 26/11/2010 10:49

It's so normal round here I barely notice I hate to admit.

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 26/11/2010 10:52

My mum does this. She is not being nasty at all but i hate it.

Eg: "...is being a right little bitch atm" about my sis who is not quite 2yrs yet.

I hate people swearing when talking about children full stop. So many people are happy to say "this baby has a shitty arse" and things like that, can't stand it.

lostinwales · 26/11/2010 10:53

Do you live near me? When my friend had her third daughter we were walking into school and this other mother went 'another little bitch then. They're all fucking bitches aren't they'. I'm still speechless three years on.

memoo · 26/11/2010 11:00

Am shocked!

Lostinwales, words fail me

PinkIsMyFavouriteCrayon · 26/11/2010 11:03

Bleurgh, I hate that kind of thing! I remember when I was pregnant and in mcdonalds a restaurant, and a Dad on the next table called his approx 4 year old a little bitch. But it was the way he said it, so affectionately, as if he'd said 'little monkey' or something!!!

monkeyflippers · 26/11/2010 11:14

ooh that's horrible!

LisaD1 · 26/11/2010 11:38

Horrible, I think I would have been very rude back to the neighbour.

Some people just don't see it as wrong though, my mum would refer to the children like that and not bat an eyelid. She doesn't mean anything nasty by it, it's just the ways she talks, still annoys me though!

Chil1234 · 26/11/2010 11:53

Class act your neighbour, isn't she? Mind you, I know someone that refers to his wife (in her presence) as 'the old tart'. Some people are just rough. YANBU
