When did this cringey saying become popular? It really gets on my nipple ends.

Honestly, you really ought to get a life Wink

AgentZigzag · 25/11/2010 22:40

And then get over yourself Grin

Mowiol · 25/11/2010 22:50

I actually did say "grow a pair" tonight Blush

And I'm really conservative and old - we are going to hell in a handcart!!

AphraBen · 25/11/2010 22:51

I prefer the expression "find your balls" far more specific.

amaterasu · 25/11/2010 22:54

...reminds me of Jeremy Kyle and makes me want to eat my own arms - along with 'put something on the end of it' and 'suck it up'

cringes

YourCallIsImportant · 25/11/2010 22:55

Man up FFS!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 25/11/2010 22:56

Get some cojones!!

Mowiol · 25/11/2010 23:06

"Man up" - I first heard this out of DS mouth back in 2004/2005. And it was probably old then because all the kids were apparently saying it.

I actually quite like some of these Blush

But then I enjoy the diversity of language.

Not keen on the lack of basic knowledge with respect to spelling and grammar though.

CraigRevelPan · 25/11/2010 23:55

but first build a bridge..and then get over yourself....

evening newwave!

GrimmaTheNome · 26/11/2010 00:00

'Nipple ends' is a bit cringey too - that could get on my tits Grin

newwave · 26/11/2010 00:06

Good evening Pan, all ok I trust.

I need to push the envelope on this thread or maybe run it up the flagpole :)

"Nipple ends" is a new twist "ouch" :o

CraigRevelPan · 26/11/2010 00:13

gud, newwave.

I was once 'led' by a manager in the 80s to 'unzip the problem and get tooled up'.

Didn't work.

plupervert · 26/11/2010 09:33

amaterasu, what on earth does "put something on the end of it" mean? It sounds quite disgusting! Shock

CrazyPlateLady · 26/11/2010 09:36

YANBU. I don't like this. Or man up or anything similar. Generally as I hear them being used towards children who are seen to be a bit 'sensitive' maybe.

In the doctors the other day, a woman came out of the nurses room with her DD, I would say early teens. She had clearly just had a jab and the mother was telling her not to be such a wimp (DD was rubbing her arm saying it hurt). I hate it when people talk to their children like this. Sad

5GoldenFimbos · 26/11/2010 09:39

"Get a life" really sets my teeth on edge. It just seems so teenagery (there I have made a new word - Grin).

pottonista · 26/11/2010 09:48

I don't mind who grows a pair, as long as they put a banging donk on it.

Confused
Unrulysun · 26/11/2010 09:54

Someone at work told me to 'talk to the hand' last year. I was very disappointed at how outdated and derivative this was when 'fuck off' is both available and classic.

CakeCuresAll · 26/11/2010 10:05

I often think this about my ex - but only because I am certain his wife actually does have his previous pair locked away in a jar.

Of course - I'd never say it to him. Because then I'd actually be talking to him - which is against the rules.
