YANBU - but then I think Christmas should only be done my way Wink

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 26/11/2010 09:54

I think Christmas should only be done every two years Wink

I have bought all presents but one and plan on sitting and writing Christmas cards tonight. Stocking fillers is todays job. MIL has already sourced and stocked for Christmas dinner. While you are all traipsing through the freezing snow and slush, in and out of shops desperate for that much wanted present that is sold out except possibly in some little shop that is charging three times the price, I will be snug and warm by the fire eating mince pies and drinking mulled wine content in my organisation. Grin

Christmas is DONE! (except for the tree. The tree is an ish-ooo.. but I refuse to think about that!)

Sigh. In reality, I know I will STILL be searching for that last present on the 24th and justifying some piece of crap because everything else is sold out!

MummyPenguin · 26/11/2010 10:22

Just read the OP and have to say I'm with UnquietDad on that totally!! Even now, a month away, yes we know it's Christmas soon but SO WHAT??!! One of my facebook friends has been banging on about it for bloody ages, and posting photos of all the twee crafty type things she's been making. I have to really sit on my hands to refrain from commenting "GET A LIFE!!!" Every year I want to cancel it, Bah Humbug!!

Rocklover · 26/11/2010 10:27

I love Christmas, even though I don't do all the decs and stuff til later on in December, so I don't mind festive posts, but i do understand not everyone loves it.

I say live and let live, if you want to get the holly out now; great, if you are a scrooge type; fine.

Just don't read any posts with the C-mas word in and your blood pressure should come right back down. :)

cumbria81 · 26/11/2010 10:32

I refuse to do anything vaguely Christmassy until December and even then think the first week is a bit early.

I simply DO NOT GET why so many people get in a huge stress about it. Surely xmas shopping is simply a case of 1 or 2 afternoons looking round the shops (or, even better, on Amazon) and the food shop is a blast round the supermarket?

Job done.

SuePurblybiltByElves · 26/11/2010 10:35

Apocalypse Cheese is a big old Scroogey Pants.

Yes, yes - we get that y'all don't like Christmas starting early. But you all have different ideas of what constitutes early. So off you go and have a nice Scroogey meeting, come back to us in January with your proposals and we'll talk to you then Grin.

Rocklover · 26/11/2010 10:40

I have bought all of dd's presents already (bar one or two stocking fillers), however, this is VERY unusual for me.

I am 7 months pregnant and dp and I are a little strapped for cash, so I had to start buying pressies as early as possible to spread the cost out (started last month). Plus I am NOT going to rush around panicking at 8 months preggers trying to get everything in time.

I have to be organised this year as I have no room for stress in my life. We have no decs yet, so need to shop for all that, which to be honest I am not looking forward to (still got pregnancy nausea). Hence why all presents have come via t'internet so far. :).

Dd is actually at exh's this year, so I am not looking forward to the festivities as much as I usually would. BUT I refuse to be a misery about it and will still enjoy it all as much as I can.

foggyfig · 26/11/2010 10:51

I believe Easter Eggs will be available on the 24th December. For all the people that like to be organised. Confused

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 26/11/2010 12:09

Chuntering on about christmas from the start of August onwards ruins it imo and drags out the torture
