small flat than a large house?

Inspired by a few threads kicking about at the moment.

To put it in context, 4 of us live in a 2-bed 1st floor Victorian flat. We have 3 big rooms, a tiny kitchen, tiny bathroom, small hall with a huge hall cupboard.

Because it's small it's cheap so we have enough disposable income despite me not earning just now. Our fuel bills are only £50pcm. It doesn't take long to clean/tidy. With no stairs we aren't forever taking things up and down and didn't need a stairgate. Or a playpen, or a monitor.

I used to to feel guilty think that the DCs were missing out, not having a garden or their own bedrooms but now I'm starting to think we are actually quite fortunate.

Gah! Just lost my message....

We currently live in a ground floor flat.

I like it because : Never had to use stairgates/playpens/baby monitors etc and I can DD roam around the place as she likes.
I don't have to run up and down stairs all day and everything you need is on one floor. Probably more cost effective too.

I hate it because : We have to live under people who can make a fair bit of noise at times. A lot of flats seem to get condensation problems and I HATE hanging my washing indoors. I miss having a garden, especially in summer.

I can see the plus side of both.

Currently living in a flat, but about to move to a house. Looking forward to having a garden, otoh will probably make me a bot lazy as I won't bother taking DC to feed the ducks, to the playground etc anywhere near as much!
