To think that for children in need the stars could dress respectfully?

Ok, I know I am being old fashioned but I just think that for children in need the celebs should think more about what they are performing for and could at least dress decently for it?

Pretty surprised at Alexandra Burke coming out in her underwear.

It's for children in need, not blokes in need.

I'll admit to a bit of a Hmm face when Alexandra Burke came out in her underwear. I don't mind it later in the evening, but I think when children are watching, it's a bit iffy with me.

Yes! I reckon it will. Well said bee. Also, my theory about the lack of support for girl groups on the x factor is that they de-humanise themselves by wearing so much slap on their faces that nobody feels connected to them, unlike the fresh faced boy bands. They are simply void of any uniqueness because they are dolled up beyond recognition.

beebuzzer · 19/11/2010 22:49

Yes, I guess susan is testemony to that and the fact that there are some people out there who realise having talent does not have to be associated with looking like a sex Godess.

Yes it's interesting that belle amie got further than most girl bands and then got fewer votes when they started to tart up a bit - when Dani commented that "the styling" was better.

Style for women singers it seems, is to wear as little as possible. With a few notable exceptions.

beebuzzer · 19/11/2010 22:52

(Thats talent when you take away the microphone, recording studios, backing vocals and lights.)

I do think Cheryl cole is a very pretty lady, so why does she have to come out looking like something out of a super hero comic week on week?. How lovely it would be if she dummed it down a bit one week and we could really see how naturally lovely she is. The thing is men fancy women anyway. You rally don't gave to do much to yourself to impress the blokes. They just get their heads turned by heels and tarty clothes as a 'jerk' reaction (sorry for the turn of phrase there). It's actually quite easy to win them over with more subtle means if you want.

beebuzzer · 19/11/2010 23:03

Its funny but its true. TBH in my `younger' years late teens/early 20's I use to go out like a tart sometimes and the difference to how guys treated me then as to how they treated me a bit later when I would 'dress up' try and look nice but decent was amazing! Guys will actually endeavor to have a conversation with you because it makes them work harder at having to get you. I don't know why women just want to throw themselves to the dogs without a bit of a challenge!

We're the dark horses bees. Stealthy.

beebuzzer · 19/11/2010 23:12

Yes, Old grandma's . But it seems all our young friends have gone to bed already. Shame as I was knitting one of them a nightcap. :(

Some of us are still up!

beebuzzer · 19/11/2010 23:16

GAH! Shock

OP posts:
DiscoDaisy · 19/11/2010 23:21

What colour is the nightcap?

spaceman · 19/11/2010 23:22

Actually I'm a young, mysterious and attractive woman that can draw in the men with just a glance.

Oh sorry, wrong chatroom!

beebuzzer · 19/11/2010 23:28

The nightcap is yellow with purple stripes Daisy. Would you like it? If you do I will also knit you an appropriate attire for you to go to bed in and bed socks to match. :)

Mystery, I mean men love that! Grin

OP posts:
DiscoDaisy · 19/11/2010 23:31

With that matching outfit I think my DP wouldn't even bother to ask.
When can you complete it by! Grin

beebuzzer · 19/11/2010 23:34

Well I shall have to post it so not for a few days but that will give me time to knit one your DP too. My DP already has a red one he wears with his y fronts and string vest to bed. [:)]

Do you get equally upset when your children see people in their swimming things?

beebuzzer · 19/11/2010 23:39

Not quite the same chippingin. When you go swimming you generally do not have an audience and you are not kicking your booty around the place to some cheesy song.

OP posts:
spaceman · 19/11/2010 23:42

Not the same chippin. It's not the human body that bothers me, it's the advertising and portrayal of it in an overtly sexual way - especially during family viewing times - that is distasteful. It's assumed we all need to be entertained in such an unimaginative and one dimensional way all the time that is an insult.

HerBeatitude · 19/11/2010 23:47

Chippingin did you not notice that all the male performers were fully dressed?

Why, d'you think?

spaceman · 19/11/2010 23:53

seriously, it's like women in the media will do anything to please men. Do they return the favour? No way. And good on them.

DiscoDaisy · 19/11/2010 23:54

Exactly HerBeatitude.
I find for me it is the fact that it is only the women dressed this way.
Either everybody should be covered or everybody uncovered. Not exclusively one sex covered and the other sex uncovered.

beebuzzer · 20/11/2010 00:10

Most of these women think that they have become the empowered ones and have become 'equal' to men but they are the ones who are letting down the side. Like you say if its one doing it we all should be doing it - thats equality. It baffles me when women say they are doing it for themselves (not men) - very modest of them to love their body so much they just want to let it hang out wherever possible just for their own pleasure !

Its not all young, good lookers who are watching them either. There are men of many different kinds rolling eyes up and down their bodies - old men,fat men, thin men, pervy men, abusive men and weird men - rather them than me!

OP posts:
beebuzzer · 20/11/2010 00:12

I have to go to bed now sorry, but thanks for posting all,had a good old ramble! Grin

OP posts:
HerBeatitude · 20/11/2010 00:12

And also a lot of women are watching them.

And a lot of gay men.

Why is there this assumption that the audience is male and needs to be pandered to?

Do the BARB figures bear that out?
