I used to like him, until I realised he accepted money for presenting Children in Need.

magicmummy1 · 19/11/2010 22:35

Ah, you're younger than me then, Discodaisy. I think I was probably about five. Indelibly etched in my memory...

SuePurblybiltByElves · 19/11/2010 22:36

He was tricked tainted. And donated it back when he found out.

magicmummy1 · 19/11/2010 22:36

Is that true, taintedpaint? That's disappointing if he really gets paid for it. I thought they all did it for nothing. :(

pointydog · 19/11/2010 22:36

But Terry is a reactionary old duffer who can sometimes be funny but then he just can't stop spouting some highly subjective nonsense about global warming or whatever and ruining whatever warm bond he had been developing.

magicmummy1 · 19/11/2010 22:37

oops, x post

DiscoDaisy · 19/11/2010 22:37

I think it was in the 70's but I couldn't say exactly when Magicmummy1.

taintedpaint · 19/11/2010 22:37

It was true, yes. :(

But Sue could be right about the aftermath, I don't know.

QueenGigantaurofMnet · 19/11/2010 22:38

yabfuckingu.

you are an arse for thinking it but a total cunt for posting it. how fecking dare you diss the Wogan.

have you not seen His talents

pointydog · 19/11/2010 22:38

Ugh. I feel beigely ill at that bulge.

SingingTunelessly · 19/11/2010 22:39

Yes I like him. But please people no sane person under the age of 95 can actually like the shite that is that rubbish Weekend Wogan on a Sunday?! Noooo. tis rubbish

SuePurblybiltByElves · 19/11/2010 22:42

No I was joking about the tricked bit Smile. He was paid a fee for the first one and it carried on as part of his BBC package, going up by whatever % the BBC increase wages as standard every year. Sir Terryness says he was not aware of it as it came as part of a package and the BBC confirm it has never been re-negociated or discussed. Since the hoo-haa he has donated it to CIN as far as I know, I know he donated a big chunk when the fuss was made.

Bobbiesmum · 19/11/2010 22:44

I love Terry! Leave him alone!

SuePurblybiltByElves · 19/11/2010 22:47

Which, when you think about it, is more helpful anyway. Cos the rest of them waive their fees and the BBC save. If they accepted fees then donated them to CIN, the total would be much higher.
But then I spose the BBC wouldn't bother hosting it. Oh, I've confused myself now.

TrillianAstra · 19/11/2010 22:57

YABVU. Leave Terry alone.

QueenGigantaurofMnet · 19/11/2010 23:35

that is a good idea Sue.

I work for a charity. we are encouraged to claim expenses and then donate them back.

makes the paperowkr for tax easier and helps somehow.
