Ahem. Simple Minds late 80s was the last time I went to a concert.

So to address the balance I'm taking the DDs plus 2 friends (and their mom) to BRMB Live next Saturday. double

Doors open 5:30 show starts at 6:30.

So it means a very early meal for the girls - I don't anticipate being home before midnight, so what do I do? Take drinks (is that allowed?), take snacks, take she-wee.? Can I buy stuff there?

Go on you lot, do your worst - tell me what I need to know.

Do you have standing or seated tickets? If standing and you want to get near the front, go at 5.30. If seated, don't bother, and get there around 6 or just after.

There will be drinks and snacks available but they are often expensive. I would put a few snacks in your bag, but you probably won't be allowed to take drinks in. This is because they get worried about people throwing sealed drink bottles and cartons at the performers/around the crowd.

Personally wouldn't take a she-wee, but up to you! As it is one of those events with multiple performers, you will find that lots of people need loo breaks inbetween anyway. Best to head to the loos during a performance you're not so keen on, or if they announce that this is the last song they're playing, to beat the queues.

Thanks CocoP. We're seated. I'll put a few snacks in then - do other people eat stuff at concerts or will we be nibbling slow roast belly pork in an ocean of abstainers?

Read the small print on the back of your tickets to see if there are any restrictions on bringing in food. These venues like to squeeze every penny they can out of the punters! Bag searches can be thorough or sketchy depending on the venue/staff. I was at one where they made everyone chuck their sweeties into a big black bag before they'd let them through the door. They don't all do that, but don't take stuff you'd be heartbroken to hand over.

The only advice i can give, is TAKE CASH! No credit/debit cards! Thieves with morals of alley cats will operate and any concert venue, no matter what size it is. Take cash only, and only a sensible amount that you will need, so at least if you do fall foul of pickpockets, cash is the only thing you will lose, as opposed to your entire bank account.

What's BRMB? Venues will generally not allow you to take drinks in, and if they do, they will definitely not allow glass bottles and will often take bottle tops of any description away from you. They would probably take food from you as well.

Urination devices....that's your call.

Hide snacks at the bottom of your bag under an item of clothing or something. They usually won't check that extensively.

shakes her head sadly, having relied on BRMB as a teenager in the kids hospital...

BRMB is a local radio station and they hold a show each year (I think) with many acts.

The acts are all the sort that appeal to youngsters.

Although I was very pleased when they announced The Script was playing.

Any advice on which songs ypu think the acts will sing would also be greatfully received as we're going to try to sing-a-long.

It's at the LG arena, the venue previously known as the NEC.

Last concert I went to was Simple Minds as well, but that was Christmas 2009...

Go to the loo during Diana Vickers set, saw her as a support act fairly recently and I had to laugh at how utterly shite she was.

Makes me giggle even now...

Lucky you ! Envy you as you will get to see James Blunt play live ! He is amazing i would think he will probably play Stay the night, 1973 and your beautiful. I considered going but the other acts are too teeny bopperish for me
