Got tickets to see her stand up show aaages ago. Invited best friend and booked table for meal first as birthday treat for her.
Had bit of bother trying to get babysitting sorted out but managed in the end...and then, phone call from venue the day before "we're very sorry but Miss Eclair's people have cancelled and she won't be appearing. Your tickets are valid for a rescheduled date in May next year. No sorry, we don't know why".
Friend and I so looking forward to it, both have young kids and don't usually manage much more than a quick catch up coffee every couple of weeks, but thought it was a shame she was probably ill or something - but no, she's in the bloody jungle.
Hope they're paying her well Hmm

I think they get paid £25000. YANBU to be a bit disappointed, but at least it's something to look forward to next year - if you're not annoyed to the point where you won't bother going.

oh that's such a shame... bit awkward for her i would imagine, because the role of grumpy old bag is a good one on that show, could keep her career ticking over, and i know that contracts etc dictate absolute secrecy. (that said, you'd think she would have been able to cancel in good time).
didn't you go out anyway? did you have a good time?

2blessed2bstressed · 18/11/2010 09:54

Well I don't know if we'll be able to go anyway - depends what's going on then. And if her act then revolves around the "hilarity" of eating kangaroo penis or whatever, then no, don't fancy it much.
Off to buy friend an alternative birthday present today - can't expect her to wait another 6 months for her treat.

Get your money back.

mamas12 · 18/11/2010 09:59

Go out to the meal anyway shame to waste an evening out

Aitch - we went for our meal, which was lovely, and we had a good old blether, but that's not really the point.
I suppose (and I'm happy to admit I'm coming from a biased position cos I don't really like those celebrity reality programmes anyway) I just feel that if you've made a commitment to a tour and you've sold all your tickets, then you're letting down a lot of people, inconveniencing a lot of venues, and just generally being a bit of a knob, for the sake of cash and a higher profile.
Maybe it's understandable, but I don't think it's acceptable.
You've made a commitment - which presumably you were also getting paid for, so to bail when you get a better offer just isn't on, in my opinion.

Weird they only told you the day before - she must have known for a while that she wouldn't be able to make it. Agree it is extremely crap of her and I imagine the whole show next year (and for several to come) will revolve around spider baths and C-list slebs getting it on with each other.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 18/11/2010 10:01

I don't blame you for being cross at all. She knew when she accepted the offer to go on the show that she had got performances booked already, and that she would be letting people down, but she has chosen to piss off the real people who pay their money to see her in person, in order to perform on a reality show.

Rockbird · 18/11/2010 10:02

That is a bloody cheek. You're right, once you're committed you're committed. If something better comes up then it's tough tits.

AitchTwoOh · 18/11/2010 12:07

i'm glad you had a nice time, and i can see why you are pissed off about it.
