to be annoyed that my brother has been bailed out by my sister

I have in the past struggled to get by and have asked her for a loan which she has always refused saying that she isn't made of money. Today I've found out that my brother has managed to rack up several debts that my sister has paid off for him and she says she doesn't want him to repay her. The amount she has paid off for is far larger than anything I have ever asked to borrow. I know its her money and she can spend it how she likes but I feel quite upset about this.

vixel-surely what the OPs sister does is her own business and if she wants to help her brother and not her sister then its up to her.

Of course its up to her but I wouldn't feel happy about the blatant favouritism being shown. The OP asked her sister for a loan of an amount of money that is less than the amount of money that she has spent sorting out her brothers debts. She has paid off her brothers debts and wants no money back, I don't think this is a very nice thing for her to have done.

YANBU, this would have upset me. Have you asked her why she decided to bail him out

electrik · 18/11/2010 10:29

She clearly stills sees him like a little boy who needs to be mollycoddled from the world. Take it as a compliment that she has more faith in your ability to fight your own battles. I can see why it might stick in the gut a little though.

are you sure your mother got all the details right? and why is she telling you this stuff?

dertitude · 18/11/2010 14:22

YANBU if she ever came to me for help in the future I'd quickly direct her in dbs direction
